Data visualisation is now a mostly solved problem which is basically a commodity task.

Mikinton claims to have worked on ICT for 35 years in which case if he/she kept at the top of his game he would have realised about Tufte and know that the visualisations he was some impressed with are not complex in this modern era.

Not sure I was ever really at the top of my game even when I was, well, at the top of my game.

Aside from 1999 when I had to make one of the systems I'd developed Y2K compliant, I don't think I'd cut any code since about 1992. I was more into Project Management and ICT Procurement by then, which saw me through to retirement in 2014.

I learnt PASCAL in my first year of college, Cobol in the second. At uni they taught us ada, I got bored and got pissed instead.

Was taught PL/1 on a TOPS course, and then picked up IBM Assembler in work. Still do a bit of BASIC from time to time.
