Also your bmi seems to be in the normal range just by those figures.. So you could even get away with 2oz just fit it into your calories...
Thanks for getting back to me. I might try and slot in half a bar a day (say about 30gm) and see how it goes. I'm not a great consumer of chocolate. I enjoy the stuff but am very moderate in my consumption and tend to only have it 'neat' around Xmas, Easter and my birthday. (The bar I had for my birthday took me about a week to get through - around 4 squares a day.)

Anyway, it's all interesting stuff so please keep posting.

ETA - my BMI's a bit on the high side. If I lost a stone I'd be spot on. (Probably all those bacon sandwiches, eh HC?)

A little bit about carbs for you and the bodies metabolism.

Only slightly, just need to drop it to around 25, more than likely 24 just to keep it safe.

Bacon sandwiches are fine if:
You grill it
Switch the bread to wholegrain
Keep track of your sodium intake
Maybe switch the bacon to organic depending on what cut you eat.

I wouldn't eat it in one sitting, I would snack on it throughout the day. Bare it mind it doesn't taste the best it's quite bitter.

You could always melt it and dip some bananas in it or strawberries and snack on them throughout the day.

I also have another tip, when consuming fruit, always try to add protein and of fats to it in order to stop your insulin from spiking.
Double cream and Greek yoghurt work well together... Id see that as a treat, especially with a sweet tooth.

Hope this helps

If anyone would like to work out there own bmi
It's:

Weight in kg (divided) by your height in metres =

Then your answer to the above

(Divided) by your height in metres = this will be your bmi roughly

I also mentor a diet/exercise plan - the El Goya system.

Sign up with me and I will constantly remind you to Eat Less & Get Off Your Arse.

It's a simple thing, but I have no idea why people don't follow this simple free way of not putting on weight in the first place!!!

Instead of paying a fortune to join a gym and use the running machine - go running outside!! Instead of using a cycling machine, get a bike and use it as a form of transport, as opposed to a fair weather leisure activity.

Walk instead of driving, cycle instead of driving, run up all stairs you encounter, and if there is a lift available - boycott it :)

Eat less takeaways, eat a diet high in fruit & vegetables, reduce red meat consumption. Don't eat processed shite.

It's not rocket science Gramaisc's method, it works and it costs nowt to very little. :)

Errm because all the retailers and the wieght loss groups and the nutritionists and the gyms couldn't make any money , also people would have to take personal responsibility and deity's forbid that should ever happen.

You're spot on! Besides a lot of fruit, people have become lazy in this day and age unfortunately and it's a shame

Anything where people are expected to take personal responsibility is doomed. Far easier to blame the food manufacturers, supermarkets, advertisers, government or any one else,................ like they forcibly make people stuff so much food in to their big greedy gobs :D

Well as I sit here sipping cold beer and eating peanut M&Ms, tomorrow I start the Insanity T25 exercise plan.

Anyone else tried it? How are you getting on? I'm hoping for big things.....

Insanity is good if you can't get to a class or gym, it's a high intensity programme with very little rest which means your heart rate is continuously elevated in order to work in your maximum training zone.

You will sweat buckets! Stay hydrated and make sure you eat a good carb fuelled lunch a few hours beforehand as you won't be able to see if through.

Good luck

HIIT TRAINING

This is the best form of training for fat loss which incorporates intense periods of work with short recovery segments. It works by working at your maximum heart rate which keeps the intensity high while still maintaining form. The magic of high intensity interval training (or HIIT for short) lies in
its ability to keep you burning fat even after you leave the gym.
Short bouts of high intervals mixed with little rest.

A simple example would be jogging on the spot for 30 seconds followed by 30 seconds of high knees or 30 second kettlebell swings and 15 seconds rest.
The beauty of intervals is you can adjust them, the times can alter but not too much. It's literally only to catch your breathe. You need to be struggling with your HIIT interval and then continue with a slow exercise to drop your heart rate ready for the next set.

You need to keep those 2 set times for your whole workout.

Intense circuits ie T2 works with strength building which will help you get lean due to stimulating your growth hormone. You're also increasing your cardiovascular system. The rest part of the interval helps you to recover faster from future exercises, it's a great way to get your body in shape.

Don't forget, it needs to be challenging with difficult full body movements. You could do 6 exercises back to back with very little rest inbetween, then take 1-2 mins out to recover after you've completed the first circuit, then complete another circuit, do it 3-4 times.

Or you could do
4 different circuits/rounds,
3-4 different exercises in each.
First circuit you'd complete it 3 times
then finish with 3 mins of skipping.
Followed by 1 minute rest
continue on to round 2.

You can create a circuit based on repetitions or based on a time scale for each exercise.

Also take a look at tabata training! Intense for around 4 minutes

I have a question if you don't mind!

I am a vegetarian but live with a meat eater so tend to make the usual British family standard meals but I have Quorn, Linda McCartney blobs, vege substitute stuff instead of the meat!

Is it still providing me with everything I need?

From what I'm aware there's only a few things you could lack by not consuming enough of them:

Other Protein sources
Wheat, nuts, beans, isolated soy protein

IRON
Spinach
Wholegrains

ZINC
soybeans, cashews, and sunflower seeds

CALCIUM
in the form of soy yogurt, tofu, beans, almonds, and calcium-fortified foods.

VITAMIN b-12
Again cereals and soy milk

Maybe a good vitamin and mineral supplement.

I have a question t00. I've been alternating between running, exercise bike and HIIT for about 6 months now and it really works, has toned me up nicely but I never lose any weight. I don't diet but healthy eating is a way of life - I very rarely eat sweets or puddings - maybe a couple of times a month. My weight ranges between 10 stone 9 and 10 stone 11 , I'm 5 ft 6" and I've been a size 12 for about 30 years (apart from during pregnancy!), so I'm not fat but why do I weigh so much?

Gramaisc

Forum O. G.
It has been suggested to me that one should avoid tea or coffee with food, if one is aiming to increase one's iron uptake. Leave the cuppa fro about half an hour.

Makes sense..?

Perhaps you're just a 'solid bird', like Wanda Ventham?
