Hi,

I am posting on behalf of a friend. She is looking to hire a limousine for her daughter's prom on 9th July 2014.

The limousine would need to be suitable for 8 people and for a return journey.

Could anyone make any recommendations?

Many thanks :)

We got one from Brownhills, and they were half the price of anywhere else but I can't for the life of me remember the name.

I will have a think and a google and get back to you.

Where did all this prom stuff come from, we aren't American!
It's gone so stupid, that my brother in law bought my niece a dress for £400+. No idea how much the limo cost to ferry her from Eccleshall to Stone. Then on top of that were shoes and a hair do. What's wrong with the end of term disco? All the lads standin at the end of the school hall, tryin look mean & cool, and the girls all dancin round their handbags and gigglin down the other?

We got off lightly.

My son had a tuxedo already and his share of the limo was about £30. That was it.

For girls though...dress, shoes, jewellery, hair, nails, spray tan, helicopter etc.
It is a bit mad for one night.

For my prom I bought a hideous olive green dress 2 days before from TKMaxx and rolled up in a battered old Volvo

The food was horrible and my shoes gave me blisters!

Never again - its a geeks nightmare!

A friend of mine crashed a helicopter into a neighbouring garden at a 65th party in Eccleshall. Fairly spooked the old dear next door when I climbed over the fence to get it back - I thought she was out.

Thank you for the responses :)
I attended two proms during my time at school - one in Year 11 and one at the end of sixth form. I can't really say either of them were particularly thrilling. It's all about what transportation you arrived in and what everyone is wearing. I'd have rather spent the night in with my closest friends, munching on pizza in front of the television!

I vaguely remember a school disco, I didn't go as I avoided school whenever possible and wasn't going to spend my free time there!

The night of my 'graduation ball' was the night that Gil Scott Heron was in town.

Had i known then what i know now about the likelihood of him actually turning up for the gig - i have subsequently not seen him twice - i might have missed him. :)

From experience...........Get in early now and look for a local one.

We tried booking an 8 seater for sons school prom in Stafford about this time a couple of years ago for the July and all the Stafford/Stoke/Cannock /Wolverhampton etc ones were booked up.

Then they found a national one off the internet (Something like Wessex/Sussex/Essex Limo Hire) who said they did this area, and as well our lads, they amazingly had Limos available for a few other groups of mates as well. Sounding too good to be true I refused to book it with my debit card, but one of the lads fathers booked it and paid with his Credit card . A couple of days before the prom one of the lads went to show someone the Limo they were having. The website had disappeared, phone number not available and turned out it was a national scam which the fraud squad were investigating!

At the last minute we managed to get a firm from Stoke on Trent (sorry, can't remember the name) who offered, for a reduced price, to pick the lads up and take them straight to the Prom after they they had dropped another party off at the same school. Ended up being the last ones to arrive at the Prom (not helped by a delay through the motorway being closed that evening) and missed out on a ride around beforehand, but better than nothing ...................................... some others who had booked with the scam people weren't so lucky and had to walk it in.

Turns out the 'After Prom Party' organised at a mates house was much better than the actual prom and son's suit from Asda looked just as good as the ones they had spent a fortune on. ( And he tried it on again last night when I was having a sort out and still looks good on him, so saves him buying one for his Leavers Ball this year!)

The Prom was at the end of
They have a prom and a leavers ball? I always thought the prom was the leavers ball / school disco!

Sorry, too late to edit :D

He had a Prom at end of year 11 and now at the end of year 13 got a 6th form leavers ball at the Moat House .Then an organised 'do' in town afterwards apparently.

I seem to remember just getting told to **** off and never come back :D

I walked out half way through my last day after being called to the heads office, thinking he was going to wish me luck etc, but instead being told off for not wearing the full uniform that day! Ended up telling him to **** off and off I went. My last school memory...... :D No school prom in those days .

I walked out of several exams early because we'd decided to go the pub instead, who needs a qualification when there was beer to be had!
