lost chicken

found this evening walking the streets just before dusk near stafford common, one brown chicken. also in the vicinity several hungry looking cats. the chicken has been removed to a secure cat free location and is now looking for its owner or a new home. it doesn't have a collar or tag but it seems to answer to the name 'chicken'. I would post a picture to help with identification, but to save me the hassle just imagine what a brown chicken looks like and you won't be far off.
I have extremely substandard chicken retention facilities, so need to find a home asap. preferably one where the people like eggs and not fresh chicken.

Hi AA. I would home it myself, but unfortunately I've just bought 3 new hens and don't really want to introduce a stray to the mix as the last time I did so I ended up with a flock full of chickens infected with the incurable egg-drop syndrome! I'll now only buy from my regular supplier as I've never had problems with them.
Having said that, I'd hate it to be destined for the neck pull so if you can't sort anything within the next 2 days then let me know and I'll try to set up a quarantine for it to stay in for the first week or so.

I've also just been told by my step daughter that her friends are always losing them and live not too far away, so it might be worth knocking their door especially as it's in the right vacinity. PM me for their address, if you still have the chicken.

I'm already wondering how we can make it die...

no bacon on the back of this chicken withnail. spooky thing is that's exactly what our chicken looks like.
I did knock on several doors but no-one could positively identify the chicken or it's previous keeper.
thanks for the offer of fostering the chicken wmr. my better half has done her research and amerton farm are likely to take in a stray chicken if pressed. we can always take her there. I'd be surprised if she has egg drop syndrome. to be honest I don't think she could even pick up a spoon, never mind drop an egg.

Husband noticed the chicken when he got home last night, but when I went to look I couldn't see it..... couldn't find my 2 cats either! Glad its safe though....there's a bloke on Moorfields that used to keep chickens, but he usually knocks on if he's lost one...
