Well according to my weather station the temprerure in stafford is currently -9.8c which is the coldest I have ever known in stafford (well in my 30 years anyway!). Anyone know of a colder tempeeture in good old stafford??

Track Staffords slip into the arctic here... http://i.wund.com/global/stations/03338.html?theprefset=00000103338WS&theprefvalue=ISTAFFOR8

Do you have records for January 1982? That was when it dropped to -26 in Edgemond, presumably it was somewhere near that here..

I accept that you may not have been paying such close attention yourself in 1982.

South end of Warwickshire..

Shawbury was -11.9 at eight o'clock, down from -10.5 at seven o'clock - it's often the lowest..

Temperature is surging upwards now that the sun is up a bit - but, will it get high enough to unfreeze the drain from my kitchen sink?

Apparently there was a winter (most likely of 82) Either the winter before my birth or the winter before my brother's birth where, according to my mum, drivers had to keep stopping to re-de-ice their cars because they were just re-freezing even when driving because it was so cold, spraying your screen just made it worse. that must have been colder than last night. Though we seem to have no hot water today because (I'm guessing) a pipe has frozen so it musta been pretty cold last night.

Here in Creswell, the "Gateway to Stafford", an overnight low of -13.9 C was recorded.

It has now soared to a balmy -10.3 C (at 10:40).

I just remarked to Mr Zeb how much I love this forum for the wealth of knowledge available. Cor, lows of -19 are actually beyond my comprehension; think I'm going to stay at home today, ordering jumpers online :D

-3.8 currently, I may be able to wash up later on. If it continues to rise at this rate the price of online jumpers may begin to fall.

A few days ago Mr Z's grandad rang to tell us to 'put a sock on your outside tap and leave your heating on all night' we laughed, then did leave the heating on. Afterall, it's a small cost compared to the pipes packing up on us.

Got a photo of my car thermometer from last year showing -14 in Castlefields...

Was -15 when I got in but was too slow getting the pic.

I was up and out at 7.30 this morning, my car temp read -13, rose as I headed south -10 by the time I got to Wednesbury.

It bloody felt -13 too.
