I wouldn't ever go near J10 during the day unless heading for the M5. Toll Road every time for me.

We go to J3 for Coventry every couple of weeks. A51 to Eastern Ave, Lichfield, A38 to Bassett Pole, A456(?), M42, then M6 to J3 then about 3miles to our destination. Takes on average about an hour from Weston. We used to use M6/M6 Toll when it first opened & it used to take roughly the same time.

I have no choice, Stafford to Coventry every day for work....If I leave home around 6:30 am....I can, if I'm lucky be there for 8:15 ish....If I'm really unlucky it has taken 6 hours to get there before.

I hear you say, "well what about the toll road?" as £5.90 each way now, no chance!

Depends on you priorities I suppose. If you're happy enough to get stuck in the traffic and waste an hour plus fuel then fine. For less than the minimum wage I see the Toll as a worthwhile investment.

I used to work at Coleshill, and in all likelihood will be back there in a few months, I used to go via Rugeley/Lichfield/then up to the Belfry, if ever the M6 is truly screwed thats not a huge leap to Coventry.

That sounds a tad pompous!

I have a mate who does the same commute as you and he's quite 'happy' to sit in the traffic because it gives him a chance to think and listen to music, so I do understand.

Just horses for courses :)

That's the route I normally go midweek if I'm heading to the NEC, the airport or the M40 or M1. Weekends, I might stay on the M6 as, provided you're willing to accept 50mph as you approach the M5 junction, it seems pretty good. The only time I've used the toll road recently was when I had to get to Birmingham Airport and was short of time.

True....but more of a ball ache....M6...auto pilot on...avoid the c**k-womble BMW / Audi/ Merc & other plebs on the roads then all is well.

The Toll charge being £5.90 is a ridiculous amount. If it cost significantly less the road would get far more use.

I remember driving in the US ten years ago and the toll charges there were 50¢ for most places with the maximum being $1.25. Yes it was a long time ago but the M6 Toll cost £3.50 at the same time.

The fact that it is not well used is a positive attraction.

That maybe true but it is a waste of a perfectly good road really.

At least it might stop some the bastards In their hgvs jumping the red lights at speed. Nearly had another bastard today that went straight over the junction coming from the Black Country Route just as I started to pull away from the lights on top of the junction. If I'd been a bit quicker pulling away I wouldn't be typing this, I actually had to brake to let the tosser pass. Knights of the road my arse.

As you are waiting on the lights to get onto the northbound slip road? I can hardly think of a day I get through those without having to swerve around someone coming off the BCR blocking it.

Yes, that's the one. Every time I use that junction someone jumps the lights regardless of whether their route is clear. They either block the junction or if it's clear they shoot across with no attempt to even slow down. The same goes for coming from Walsall onto the roundabout with people jumping the lights (usually in the wrong lane) to get onto the southbound slip road. It's probably evenly split between cars & "professional" drivers. That whole junction is somewhere that when the lights change I still treat is as an ordinary roundabout, just because I've got the green light doesn't mean it's safe to pull away.

It's my route from work every day, coming off the lights opposite The Village and right to the junction. Every other car seems to be a southbound driver in the right hand lane.
