Difficult choice for the lad who SUPPORTS his HOME TOWN club (Season ticket holder!) team! Man U (scUM), followed (claim to support them!*) by millions, who have never even been closer to Manchester than watching Corrie' and never been to the ground, or the upstarts from across the city, who have been banckrolled (bought) by Millionaires?:strange:

Yep, against my better nature, after a years of hatred, I am wishing Sir Alex all the best for the next game, and praying for the unlikely set of results that would see scUM prevail! :xd:

Personally think that unless you are impoverished, disabled, or both, you cannot claim to be a SUPPORTER if you have never been to the ground! END OF!

I can't believe I'm discussing blooming football (especially as I am currently sitting in the attic, where I went to escape from Five Live downstairs!) but to be honest, I do think that the title race has been really exciting this year. In previous years it has all been a bit Formula 1 and on the final weekend all the tension has been at the bottom end of the table. This time, it's going to come down to goal difference and there could still be a sting in the tail, with Joey Barton and Mark Hughes coming back to City with scores to settle. Given that I have to watch quite a bit of football, this season has been quite gripping.
My husband comes from Manchester and one of our first dates was to Maine Road (and reader...I married him). He also took me, memorably, to the Get To Know Your Seat day, prior to the opening of the new stadium. Having watched the team fail so many times before, he still absolutely refuses to believe that they can do it.
One statistic that I've absorbed somewhat against my will, is that the starting line-up for City, yesterday, cost £161m. The starting line-up for United cost £169m. So Fergie's suggestion that his club (also under foreign ownership) has had the title bought from underneath them, is a little disingenuous.
Right. Enough football. I'm going to look at some cookery books now and start thinking cakes.

Oh my goodness, isn't that brilliant? I wonder if there is ANY chance I might be able to make something like that for next weekend...? Perhaps I'd better stick to flapjacks with blue icing.

Personally, I wouldn't bother. They could still cock it up and you would then have to have it cryogenically frozen for another 35 years until they get another chance...

I got an over-excited, hard to understand phone call from outside the ground. I definitely caught some suggestion of disgust at Joey Barton. Also an instruction to record Match of the Day "to keep forever". I must admit, when they got the final goal, I did shed a few tears. But I think that was just relief that he wasn't going to be crushed by disappointment. Again.
