The REAL Mayor of Stafford
Good afternoon everyone. Hope everyone is well.

I'm doing the Mayor Walk from Nottingham Castle to Stafford Castle starting 22 May and finishing at Stafford Castle at 3pm on Saturday 24 May.

All money raised is going to Katharine House Hospice.

I'd like to try to create awareness of this event within Stafford and get people to donate to a fantastic cause and also to turn up to Stafford castle on 24 May to see my arrival and have a picnic. A representative from KH will be there and hopefully a local paper too.

You asked for some advice about publicity. I hope you won't mind me sticking my oar in.

Your sponsored walk is laudable. More than that, it's wonderful. But probably only of interest to local media. I'd happily help you with that but I'm sure you already have all the contacts you need.

What you have right now, though, is a brilliant window of opportunity - if you act tomorrow. Some of the nationals would love the story of the trip to America by the 'other' mayor and your own drive to raise the same amount as the cost of that trip, through sponsorship.

That's a fun story. Particularly while it is current. Contact the reporters who covered your story and get in touch with the Press Association.

Good luck with the walk and with your fundraising. It's a great cause.
