Misheard Song Lyrics

Wookie's 'Funny Words' thread jogged my memory of some funny misheard song lyrics. My favourite example is my friend who thought that System of a Down (song: BYOB) say 'Why do we go to centre parks?' when the actual lyrics are 'Why do they always send the poor?'.

"A young girl with eyes like potatoes" La Isla Bonita. Still don't know the correct lyrics.

you know, we're good on here:

Last night I dreamt of San Pedro
Just like I'd never gone, I knew the song
A young girl with eyes like the desert
It all seems like yesterday, not far away

Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby

I fell in love with San Pedro
Warm wind carried on the sea, he called to me
Te dijo te amo
I prayed that the days would last
They went so fast

Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby

I want to be where the sun warms the sky
When it's time for siesta you can watch them go by
Beautiful faces, no cares in this world
Where a girl loves a boy, and a boy loves a girl

Last night I dreamt of San Pedro
It all seems like yesterday, not far away

Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby

Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby

La la la la la la la
Te dijo te amo
La la la la la la la
El dijo que te ama

enjoy!

Do you remember the song Camouflage in the early 80S, not sure now who it was by but a friend of mine used to sing "Camel Claws"..

Meat Loaf 2 out of 3 ain't bad I used to say "crying I s'pose in stead of tears" it should be "icicles"

There's a line in London Calling by the Clash that I miss heard for years as 'Into Stafford' and I try to not hear the real version now.

The word coined for this concept is: Mondegreen

It is based on a poem the first four lines of which are:

Ye Highlands and ye Lowlands,
Oh, where hae ye been?
They hae slain the Earl O' Moray,
And Lady Mondegreen.

The fourth line should be: "And laid him on the green"

My favourite is based on a cowboy who had his boots eaten by a tiger:

"Pardon me Roy, is that the cat that chewed your new shoes...woo...woo..."
