New episodes of Monkey Island out at the moment.
Done with blessing of Ron Gilbert.
Played the first episode - Launch of the Screaming Narwhal - and it's as good as ever.

The original game has also been re-done with enhanced graphics and sound.
looks and sounds great

You can hot swap between the old and new formats too

or you could cough up a mere fiver and get it legit, thus supporting this wonderful endeavour and hopefully spurring them on to recreate other lucasarts classics:

The Secret of Monkey Islandâ„¢: Special Edition

seriously, if you can't afford a fiver for this much fun then you have no business playing it.. plus it means you don't have to dick about with daemon tools/cracks/etc..

it's a posh way of saying "press F11 and you can instantly swap between the original/remastered graphics" lol..

i think you've missed the point of a remake lol..

if all one wanted to do was play the original, like you say that option has been around forever and a day via (amongst others) scummvm.. this new version is for people who have modern(ish) machines, and want to install and play it with a minimum of fuss and have a reasonably modern look and feel..

that being said, the remake runs ok on my shitty lenovo laptop, which is a very basic business machine with crappy intel graphics..

Agreed.
3Ghz/ AMD3000 is well below par nowadays

I've played all the series and it's amazing to compare the difference in graphics.
Hard to believe it was a cutting edge game but it truly was.

I'm dreading the pirate skills sword fighting bit.
Took bloody ages first time round
