Was there an officer exchange going on there? Otherwise, they like to keep things withing their jurisdiction, although they don't have such extravagant topography available.

This was extensively rebuilt in the 70s, using only the building techniques and materials available at the original time.

Somewhere, I have some real photographs of my visit. It had progressed little from its derelict stage at that time, and the chaps were happy to show you around.

Not me in that picture, but that was how it was before the renovation work began.

Just to the left there, just out of shot, a scooter passenger is being beaten about the head for being outside for no good reason.

It might even be @Tilly

I'm cheating a bit here as this pix I took 10 years ago. It's Charlestown on the south coast of Cornwall. I'd arrived early in the morning for my 'three hours before the mast' cruise in the channel aboard the Earl of Pembroke. That's the ship anchored out beyond the harbour wall.
The ship on the left is the brig 'Phoenix,' a real beauty. Both ships have featured in various films.
Charlestown is a favourite place for TV and Film crews because of it's olde worlde looks. TV series like The Onedin Line and Poldark, and they filmed a scene for the film 'The Eagle has Landed' outside that pub you can see on the right.

I thought it seemed familiar. I was that way in 1990 doing Galtymore on those mountains. I've got a fair amount of family in that area. :)

The Squad will be well acquainted with the networks and individuals that operate in the area.

They will not be relaxing their guard in the current circumstances.

I remember setting out on that journey on a Kawasaki Vulcan from Cornwall to Fishguard-Rosslare then across to Herbertstown to the northwest of Aherlow. I hadn't been over for decades and my Old Dear gave me a list of relatives that I HAD to visit.

"If you miss any," she said. "It could cause a 500 year feud in the family."

Right Mum, … no pressure then !!

I think she was joking, but I visited all of them just in case !!!

Went on to do Brandon Mountain on the Dingle Peninsular, and then the Macgillycuddy's Reeks. Good weather the whole time. One of the best holidays I've ever had. :)
