Under cover of darkness, though still at some personal risk, I was dragged out into a pub car park last night, by some dodgy woman promising me something to do with "sausages".

I made it back indoors safely, clutching these.

They are from Shropshire, wherever that is, though with a distinct Staffordshire heritage.

They are available in Stone at the Farmers' Market on the first Saturday of each month, for those not prepared to take the risks that I did last night.

I can confirm, through rigorous personal assessment procedures, that they are sausages that are well worthy of the name, something that is not always true of the run-of-the-mill sausage these days...

Look out for the marmalade ones, they are lovely! They did try Stafford farmers market many years ago, but decided it was a bit crap and did Stone instead.

It's worth it just for the line...

Julian - I got it from my charcuterie.

Mr Horne - Your butcher?

Julian - Ooh, d'ya think so? It must be the way I've had me hair done..
