Getting rather p1ssed off when , being a loyal customer, every year renewals come through at a higher price than if I was taking the policy out as new.

I always get quotes on-line from the companys own websites before the renewal arrives, and ring to get the lower quote matched when the automatic renewal quote comes .

Yet again, Green Flag have sent their renewal through with 'as you haven't made any claims, next years price includes a no-claims discount ' price £62.72

New on-line quote on their website for exactly the same cover £48.16

Bloke matched the lower price straight away when I told him ,but shouldn't have to go through all that each year. Now knocked it off automatic renewal to save being quoted a higher price next year and having to hang on in a queue for 10 minutes to get the lower price that it should have been in the first place! I'll just let it run out and action the on-line quote instead.

As one operator quoted once when I queried why it's always higher "If people like you take the trouble to check the prices we honour the lower price, those who don't bother pay the higher price" :ohno:

Oddly, I've gotten about £200-300 off every year from my car insurance and have yet to actually beat it, even by calling up

I have to do the same thing with Direct Line. There's no discount for no claims anymore and you have to search for the same type of policy with the same company to get a reduction.

Whilst I agree it's not right in any way at all, it is worth the hassle of entering all the details because I saved nearly £300 on my car insurance this year.

Make sure they haven't sneaked in any changes to the policy in the new quote though!!!

He just amended the price on the original renewal quote ....I shall be checking the documents very carefully when they arrive in the post ;)

This no claims discount thing is all a load of b*llocks thoough.

Renewal letter quotes 'NO CALLOUT DISCOUNT current entitlement 3 Years

Last years cover 'No Call out discount ...If you don't call us during the year,we'll automatically give you a discount on your nexy years premium'

Next years cover ' This section has been removed from the policy wording as no-callout discount isn't offered by most breakdown companies and isn't portable in that way. Our renewal premiums are based on a number of factors, including claims history, so if you don't have a breakdown your renewal quote will continue to reflect this'

Yeah right.......

I change every year, because it saves me money. They rely on you being too lazy to do so.

Agreed.
I actually went with direct line this time , fully comprehensive ,legal cover ,key replacement , loan car etc.
Also breakdown recovery including home start and it was still around £40 cheaper than my last insurer.
Saved quite a bit just by parking in the drive rather than on the roadside.

I'll be glad when we can ring sons insurance up to change from parking in a hotel carpark in the dodgiest part of Worcester, to parking on his own driveway in a safer part on the outskirts of the city. Premiums rocketed this year .
Strangely , it would have been the same premium whether I declared it an 'unsecured carpark ' or a 'secured carpark' . Should see the premiums dive as soon as he moves...

Still waiting to exchange contracts , 14 weeks after the supposedly 'quick no chain' transaction, because of the absence of an elusive certificate from the sellers solicitor. . Looks like having all the new house stuff that I bought son stored here in his old bedroom for quite a time yet (As well as the patio chairs looking very elegant stacked in my lounge  )

Hoping for a positive message saying it's been sorted by tomorrow, otherwise they will have to return the mortgage funds that have been put over in readiness for the 'all systems go' and re-apply at a later date. :(

I would recommend that next year you get a quote online from them and it will probably be cheaper than the renewal quote and their competitors.

When you get the quote call them and haggle to get further reductions.

I'd been haggling with Virgin each renewal date since I joined in 2007 and got a good discounted price each time.

Last time I got a pompous prat in redemptions who told me "NO!!! You have had discount every time, you can't have it again. You will have to pay the extra £50 + this time and pay what everyone else is paying! " I said I'd check with hubby and most likely leave then ....He says "OK , let us know so that we can give you a disconnection date"

After getting an online quote with Talk Talk and then ringing them to make sure they could actually supply broadband to my house (turns out it just happened to be Black friday and I got the £19.95 for 18 months black friday deal without realising :D ) I rang Virgin back to say I was definitely leaving. Got a different operator in redemptions this time who offered me the same package as before at just a £5 increase to £35. If I'd have got her in the first place I'd have stayed with Virgin, but 'Mr Prat' is now saving me £15 a month for the next 18 months and I'm so far getting a better service. Had lots of problems with Virgin over the years. Mr Pompous Prat did me a favour by him being in a bad mood that morning !

Might be an idea to get a few friends/little gathering. Make it into an informal meeting.

So yesterday Norman came for lunch to tell me all about it and show me his photos and memorabilia.

On Thursday mornings he always comes to the tea rooms at Acton Trussell. It was my task to make sure that he arrived last (he's usually the first).
Told him it was starting half an hour later than usual. The ladies got the room ready with bunting, union flag tablecloths, waving flags, piano wheeled in.
We were all waiting when he arrived to give him a rapturous reception and his very own welcome home party.
In between the songs, Norman was happy enough to tell everyone about his trip but also about his experience in 1944.
It was certainly very emotional in parts and uplifting in others.

I went on a hospital visit today - they seemed to have been pre-warned.

Enjoying the Prosecco present for looking after the neighbours cat ....celebrating the fact that our efficient solicitors were so pissed off with the sellers solictors , for not being able to establish the fact that an essential missing certificate actually existed for the past 14 weeks, that they have spent a day chasing it for them , found it existed and got a copy sent to sellers solicitors.

Now our soliticors are pissed off that they have spent all day chasing the elusive remaining required document, and now sellers solicitors aren't answering their calls or emails to get a copy sent over to us.

But at least (thanks to our Cardiff super team) we find it exists and eventually the house sale should go ahead. :)

Prosecco so nice that I could have done with it all to myself, but with hubby having to crack it open for me had to share

FFS !!! Having a right shitty day! They say it comes in threes....

Mortgage funds were being returned to lender at midday as sellers solicitor not done her job.

4 year old car has failed it's MOT and Vauxhall don't hold the part it needs in stock any more.

My ASDA click & collect order has been delivered to the wrong store today , so my order was cancelled without telling me . Good job I rang them to check if it was in yet as hadn't heard anything from them . Got to wait 5 days for a refund now (Apparently they can't just get it re-delivered to the correct store!)

And now the email customer services promised me , confirming a refund , has arrived . But hasn't got any mention of a refund. Just a customer satisfaction survey .AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH Why can't anything ever go right ?

<==== Decides not to point out it could be worse, a 500 metre asteroid could have crashed down onto the garden, but it didn't. (I suspect it wouldn't be fully appreciated.) :heyhey:

I wouldn't be suprised if it did , knowing how my day is going .....

Rang Asda store that the 'cancelled' microwave order should have gone to , to see if they have one in stock anyway. They have, so hoping the microwave that has now been taken off the shelf and been put behind the counter for me (to buy again ), has been put behind the counter for me and stays there until I can get down there in the car later (car still safe to drive apparently and hopefully re-booked in next week if they can get the part from somewhere ).

Me-thinks the lorry driver maybe didn't 'accidently' take his deliveries to the wrong town. Probably heard of the Stafford M6 closure and road chaos this morning and decided to dump them elsewhere to avoid the area.

Don't be surprised if a 500 metre asteroid lands on top of the microwave during the night. (Retreats to nuclear hardened bunker.) :teef:

Got drenched walking to asda, gave up trying to dodge the puddles after blue car GF55... soaked me head to foot by speeding through a puddle right by the Kerb .
Stood outside Asda waiting for hubby to come from work to meet me and carry the microwave to the car. Got a phone call from solicitor whilst standing outside under the brolly. Hung up to find a text ages after ' You wasn't there so I've driven home ' . Ended up having a right argument inside Asda when he drove back down. Microwave was there waiting for me behind the counter.....must be bloody jinxed, they couldn't get the security tag off , resulting in a phone call for re-inforcements who ended up using super force and sliding it out of the wire security contraption!

Some days, you know, it's better to accept defeat and seek solace down the pub.
