Mad Cat Woman
I’d just like to apologise to anyone on the forum that, over the last few months, may have been at the receiving end of my sharp tongue/ill temper/reacting in a negative way/generally being not very nice.

On a day to day basis, whether on the forum, or in real life, I generally only talk about the good stuff.
I don’t like to bore people with the rubbish bits, because let’s face it, everyone has enough of their own stuff to deal with without listening to everyone else moan about their problems or grievances. So I usually put on my “happy persona” and try to send upbeat posts.

Anyway, recently I’ve just been on a tinsy winsy bit of a downer. It’s nothing massive.

Not going into details, just wanted to apologise for being a bad tempered bore.

Hopefully normal service will be resumed soon.
Don't ever apologise for feeling like that. I've suffered from the 'Black Dog' for over 15yrs now.
Anyone seeing me out of the house would never know. I'm always laughing, smiling, up for a joke.
Inside, I'm the total opposite.
I've sat crying my eyes out for no other reason than I can.
Ditto, I quite like bad tempered @Carole, if there is such a thing...

Me too. :hug::hug:

Mines more of a little Grey Whippet  but it used to be a big black dog, sometimes it still tries to get out... for @Carole too.

In other news, today I realised that most people at work think I'm weird...

:slayer: mission accomplished! :slayer:

Didn't notice anything. Dunna worry about it.

Might I suggest red wine as being a good pick me up.

In immoderate quantities, of course.

Chin chin.

I am considering a house move and looked in the 3 and 4 bed houses up there on Sunday, comparing them against the other new builds that are popping up around the town and were visited on the same day, these are considerably smaller and the finish nowhere near as good.

Do not buy a new build

They are built as cheaply as possible, generally have a huge number of issues, etc. They keep being built smaller and smaller with paper thin walls that outright move sometimes. Plus you end up paying a ground rent for them to do absolutely shit all maintenance and it’ll cost you tens of thousands to buy them out.

Parking isn’t even the worst of it, but a driveway that isn’t actually wide enough to let you out of your car seems to be a popular snag

I may have asked this before, but does anyone know why there are often large groups of people on their phones by the memorial on Victoria Road? Last night they'd moved to the corner of Station Road. Are pokestops still a thing or is this something different?

The memorial is a gym so it had cooperative raids on where multiple players participate in the same battle. On community day weekends they generally start at Victoria Park and wander into town as well

For balance I'd like to say that we bought a new build, yes its not perfect but then again we have an incredibly energy efficient 3 bed home that only costs £55 per month for power and gas. We don't have ground rent and the walls are not flimsy.

I'll second that, as middle child bought a new build last year, yes there were a few minor (wrong washing machine, coving not finished in one corner, wrong kitchen handles) flaws when they moved in but all were fixed within 2 weeks... Really good sized rooms, very energy efficient, good walls, parking for 3 cars....

The only thing that would ever put me off a new build is the size of the gardens, I've been spoilt where we live...

I wish our house was energy efficient. £55 per month is the stuff of my wildest dreams.

Bulb, based on the last year's usage, has just dropped my monthly gas+electricity payment to £56.17.

The house is a three-bed semi and was built in 1935.

Nixon Garden Neatness
Follow up from this (yes, it’s blow my own trumpet time :))

Being somewhat surprised that people actually bought my jam, I made more jam, and then more and more.

Over the last 3 weeks I’ve made 75 jars of jam. I kept making jam and couldn’t stop. I was so pleased that people were liking it and coming back for more.

I actually got to saturation point yesterday when I thought “that’s it for this year, no more jam.”
I’d quite like to do something different for a change, perhaps housework or watching paint dry.

Then Norman came round “I’ve been to the Castle picking blackberries, I know that you like making jam”

I did plum jam last year - but then I pruned the tree back quite brutally so no plums this year. I'm hoping that they come back next year. I have had loads of pears and apples this year to many to eat - gave most of them away.

We only had 3 apples this year , but 3 eatable ones as actually managed to pick them before the slugs got them for a change.

Lived up to my brothers nickname for me , 'Rottweiler' , this morning when being targeted by a chugger in town.

Chugger : "You look like a nice friendly lady...."

Me : "Grrrrrrrrr"

Chugger : " Oh...Maybe not ! " Soon got rid :D

To be fair you do have what, two considerably sized batteries on your driveway to charge?

Our bill is about £90 a month but we’re not exactly a low electricity usage household

Out of curiosity how old is new? And from the builder or one that’s been lived in?

There are some good builders, but a lot of them you end up with massive snag lists when you’re the first buyer. I can’t imagine living on Marston Grange, still being built on after all these years...

How many new built houses have you bought, out of curiosity?

The cars normally get charged at work or when out and about. Only the bike gets regularly charged at home. To be fair is not really the electricity bill that worries me, it's the gas, during the cooler months...
