Off to Manchester for my company's Christmas do late this afternoon. My days of being that guy are hopefully over.

Today is my Uncles funeral, known the date for a couple of weeks now. I've rearranged quite a few things and turned other things down as this was more important. I was going with my parents as it's in West Brom and I just can't get there else. Had a phone call last night from my parents telling me they aren't going after all. This will be the 3rd family funeral we'll not have attended and it's really starting to look bad. I feel really guilty but not a lot I can do about it. :soz:

Got all excited to receive a voucher through the door in todays post, with my Co-op dividends statement, for a box of 'Free Thorntons Chocolates when you spend £10 or more'. Then noticed the expiry date to use it by was yesterday!

POLITE WARNING !

For Those of you who are placing Hue Christmas lights in your garden, can you please avoid anything that has Red or Blue flashing lights together?

Every time people come around the corner, they think it's the police and they have a panic attack.
they have to brake hard, toss wine out the window, hide the weed, fasten the seat belt, throw the phone on the floor, turn the radio down, and push the gun under the seat, all while trying to drive.
It's just too much drama, even for Christmas.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding ;)

Couple of years ago I got knobbled by a speed camera at 4am in the morning driving through roadworks on the M5 near Sedgemoor with a 50mph limit. (Nobody was working on the site.) There was very little traffic and my speed was recorded at 58mph.
Fortunately I was offered a 'Speed Awareness Course' in lieu of a fine and penalty points. In all fairness I found the one morning course a bit of an eye opener. The instructors on the course mentioned at the time that a 'zero tolerance' policy was being considered with regard to speeding. It doesn't require much in the way of man hours on Motorways, cameras and computers can handle pretty much all of it. Technically, they stated, you could lose your licence in one day if you were caught on camera multiple times.
So it isn't so much cops I watch out for now, but camera signs. (I have a dark desire to be 'discovered' !!! :teef: )

Nothing will wake you more instantly at 4.30am than kicking a chair whilst getting up to turn your alarm off. My little toe is still in some serious pain. If I didn't know better I could swear my wife giggled when I did it.

Very wild night down here last night. In Bude Sainsbury's lost their roof !!! (It is pretty exposed sitting on high ground overlooking the sea.) I went up on my roof in a north wind that cut like a Katana (Samurai sword) because an aerial stay needed tightening, but nothing came down so I was able to scurry back indoors. :o

I have a stall outside where I put jam and things from time to time. That fell over and the roof has also come off. Not quite as dramatic as Bude though. Did the tunnel survive?!

Not as far as I know. Bude has been pretty much sealed off with never ending roadworks for about a month, this storm has apparently transported the entire town into some kind of impenetrable alternate Universe. A sort of black hole !!! … lots of things go in, nothing comes out.

Is the Bude Tunnel okay?

Bought son a tree for his new house, and helped to put it up (well, stood holding the top part while he assembled the rest...)

Couldn't get into Bude today as the area around Sainsbury's is sealed off, and that's after you've negotiated the road works that would give a Panzer Division a hard time … !! I was sort of hoping to get some pix but stopping wasn't an option. I haven't heard that the tunnel is damaged. Might try again in a day or so. :urgh:

They've still got 12 firefighters ??? …. The whole fire brigade has been decimated in the West Country (as everywhere else.) Gawd elp us if there was a Chernobyl at Hinkley Point. We'd need to put it out with fire blankets.

Just when you thought it was safe to venture outside again, the youths on the noisy motorbikes are back. Been tear arsing past here the last 2 days/nights. You'd think they'd have sumat better do with their time.
