Chase the Rainbow farm shop.
It closed down last year for a few months then reopened under new management.
The lady that now owns it is doing a marvellous job and it’s much improved from the previous owners.
As you will have noticed, everything is super fresh and top notch.

It’s on the main A34 Cannock Road, just by the turning for Bednall.
It’s definitely worth a visit. Not just vegetables and fruit, but jams, cakes, home made pies, sausages, bacon, cheese, just really lovely things.
Also do really nice fresh cream horns , the sort we used to make in the bakery . A lot nicer than the supermarket boxed ones. Just had to have one , and hopefully they have them each week we go in from now . Along with the scotch eggs and cornish pasties which were so tasty. ( Bang goes the diet again...). Looking forwards to the farm made crisps later.
Got a couple of big tubs of 'Reindeer Tracks' ice cream as well . Also bought a joint for tomorrows dinner, gammon steaks, chicken portions, jars of stuff , and loads of fruit & veg. Will get my eggs and cheeses from there next week as well.

Could have bought the whole shop ! Glad hubby suggested popping in for ''a couple of things'' whilst filling up with petrol nearby.

We do all our fruit, veg and dairy shopping there now. I don't really know how it compares price wise with supermarkets but the quality is far superior, it's supporting a hard working local business and saves having to make trips into the traffic hell that is Stafford or cultural void that is Cannock/Hednesford.

But aren't Hednesford and Cannock overrun with cabbage heads already?

We decided it was worth paying more ( if it was actually working out more..things like cucumbers were twice as big as local supermarket) if we were getting better quality and longer lasting produce.

This combined with Roots Larder will now be a regular place for me I think. Running the grandson and heir back to darkestHednesford today so will call in on the way home.

This was an irritation yesterday. Heading towards Junction 13 and just past the Moss Pit speed cameras down towards the railway bridge. I see a commuting cyclist just starting up the railway bridge so I slow right down. No way I would or could over take them on that bridge. I hang back a little and let them scale the bridge.
I look out of my rear view mirror and see a Mamil (middle aged man in lycra) peddling towards my bumper, ok he will hold surely as he can see why I have slowed. No even though once over the bridge I will gladly give a metre, this guy is so impatient he skims my wing mirrors just because he couldn't be bothered to wait. Infuriating.

I did mine this afternoon.

I don't know if it's me mowing them somewhat earlier than usual, but there seemed to be a lot more moss than I was expecting. I gave it a good wuffling afterwards to try and pick up the moss and now it looks a right mess.

Surprisingly little moss on ours, given what people have been saying here. Just a little patchy due to leaving it to grow for too long... (had to use the strimmer to take it down a bit first in places)

Looks good @Cue . And way better than mine, though mine always looks bad after raking. (Even at its best it's not very good and probably need seeding or turfing.)

Mowed the lawn up here in Formby for the first time this year yesterday. No moss at all. By contrast the one at home is riddled with the stuff. I'm going to have to get Green Thumb out to it I think.

Unfortunately I think moss treatment is something you have to do in the autumn, as our last rented place had it pretty bad out front, looked into it then decided that as we don’t own the place and were buying soon it wasn’t our problem.

i used some stuff quite a few years back when i moved here.
Good stuff , killed the moss but smelt the whole street out like rotting fish guts for weeks .

.... will be doing it again this year

They came out last year and did something that made it much more acceptable for the rest of the season. Should have had them out in the autumn to finish the job properly but I forgot.

Waking up to a nice sunny day, decided to surprise son by turning up on his doorstep for a few hours before he went off to work. :D My idea of a nice sunny day out didn't quite work out as it was hammering it down with rain all the time in Worcester , but still enjoyed my visit :)

( Also got to take him the new super duper lighty up and changing colour digital thermometer that I'd bought him , since the post office told me I couldn't send the 'forbidden item' through the post  )

Popped to the nearby Tesco 'quickly' to get him some milk. Took bloody ages queueing to pay, with panic buyers having trolleys full of whatever they could find left on the shelves. Little old lady in front of me had 100's of all sorts of bottles of herbs and spices , loads of plastic cups ??? , and a whole host of other things in glass jars and tins. I don't usually like going to the self service tills, but joined the massive queue for them instead in my desperation to just get out of the madness

Started out in dry and sunshine on my walk to town. Came back absolutely soaked through. Discovered my expensive 'waterproof ' coat isn't actually completely waterproof!
