I've got an Oric in the attic using a 6502 processor and GBasic if I remember correctly. Used to take that to sea with me. Not worth the effort to get it going because I'd have to rig up a TV for a screen .. too much work to stare at a blinking cursor.

It's an emergency, plumbers can work during emergencies. We're sending ours out in asbestos kit.

Sad to hear today an old biker mate of mine has just died. Fred Barrett. Part of the original gang that hung out in the Prince of Wales back in the late 60's / early 70's when the side alley of the Prince (now part of the lounge) was covered in oil drips from Brit bikes. Can't go to the funeral, apparently no-one can.

Started to think of how many of that original gang are still going ... ... and that given this shit is all over at some time, I'll have to go and look them up. :|

He did indeed. And he never objected to that corner of the bar we took over. We weren't outlaw biker types, just a bit noisy maybe now and again.. Joe Hill and family were very fair and tolerant, or so it seemed to me anyway.

@darts22's book says Joe was there from 1956 to 1981 - certainly there through all the time I frequented the place.

He coped well the night that drunk Norwegian sailor turned up...

I was regularly in there during early 70's as well....might well have met @BobClay and @Gramaisc ;)
Sad news about your old biker mate @BobClay

Did you used to go in the biker pub / or cafe?? On Tipping Street ? ( Shrewsbury arms area, on other side of road). Can't remember the name....

Or Ma T's as our lot used to call it.
Made me think, a small group us used to meet in later years once a week in the cellar at the old Navy Club in town for a short while.

Did occasionally use Mrs T's ... also the Rose and Crown used to get a few bikers in during the 80's.

I dropped a fairly serious bollock in the Prince when I came home from sea one day and the lounge was full of nurses. At that time the new hospital was going through a bad time with Legionnaire's Disease, and I thought I could cheer them up. So I walked up and down shouting 'March or Die, March or Die' .. then looked at them (they were all a bit startled by this) and said: 'Legionnaire's Disease girls.'

None of them laughed.

Not my finest hour ...(my excuse was that I'd just done a hard trip on a super tanker which discomnobulates your sense of humour.)
