View attachment 8209 Because quite a few of us in the village are choosing to stay in, we are therefore finding interest in the smallest of things.

Imagine the excitement when I get a phone call “cows on the loose in the village, do you know the farmer?”

I did know the farmer, but in between me calling him, and him arriving (about 3 minutes) much amusement was had, neighbours coming out to have a gawp.
The cows had turned up in our cul de sac, wandering into various gardens and distributing free manure wherever they felt the need.

Such fun!

Looks like going booze free until whenever. Hubby polished off my cider rations, leaving himself a box of Stella's ,which he knows I don't like

Probably from some childrens radio programme from the 1960s whose name escapes me. They played stuff like this ...

Possibly Junior Choice, with Ed Stewpot.

When I was 3yrs old, I took myself and our 6 week old puppy Mitzi, for a walk up the village. Apparently, Mum was going frantic, thought I'd fallen into the Mill pond just up the way. Police had to be called in from everywhere, even some posh birds garden party in Stone, Mum reckoned the old bird wasn't happy about it. They were making arrangements to dredge said mill pond, place hadn't been used for years and it was all overgrown and dangerous up there.
Anyhows, the policeman who eventually found me and our Mitzi, he sang 3 wheels on my Wagon to me on our drive home.
I think I'm the reason Mum went grey quite early on.

i used to live in Donnington in Telford before it was too built up. During the late 70s the cows would often get out and all us kids helped guide them back into their field. Vivid memories of those times over 40 years later.

Some photos from this morning's walk - one we've done several times over the last fortnight and one I should do one afternoon when the light will be better.

Firstly the view looking back along the way we've just come, from Walton-on-the-Hill. I'll photograph the view from the top one day when I'm not looking right into the sun.

Used to do hill work up that first hill . Path looks a but more smoothed out nowadays, used to be hopping over the uneven grooves back in my running days.
