Lucky... I want HVAC. Guessing you’ve got some fancy, large modern house if you have ducting then? They love it in the US abut it would eat up so much wall cavity space here

We’ve been trying to great Split AC installed without breaking the bank but there’s barely anyone in Stafford that does it and the only quote we’ve had only worked with the crazy expensive stuff
Had air con for over 20 years, wouldn't be without it. Started with portable units, before moving on to built in split units.

I upgraded a couple of years ago to Daikin units, which were supplied and fitted by Stafford based Intercool Systems, who did an excellent job. A bit more expensive than I'd previously gone with, but they came with wifi connections, plus 5 years warranty and servicing included.

Paying over £100 a night to be encouraged not to want our room cleaned, and to get out of the hotel as early as possible on departure day rather than enjoying the mornings stay we've paid for.
'
*We can save 35 litres of water by not cleaning your bathroom and not changing your towels and linen.

*Reduce our use of toilet cleaner, multipurpose cleaner and air freshener.

*Save power by not operating a vacuum cleaner, lights and heating whilst cleaning your room.

*We know check-out time is 12 noon but if all guests did that we would find it difficult to have all rooms ready for check-in at 2pm. So please let us know before 2am what time you expect to check out by ticking 8am,9am,10am,11am, by 12noon'

Used to feel like a valued customer, enjoying a bit of luxury for a few days. But now seems price stays high, but they don't want to supply the high standard of service anymore (had to buy our own loo rolls from Tesco across the road last stay as " the hotel deliveries haven't arrived". )

Will be viewing other hotels whilst enjoying a walk out down the river today :)

You might want to suggest to them when you check out that the rooms would be much cleaner and stocks wouldn't keep getting deplenished if they didn't keep allowing guests to stay in them.

I would apologise profusely to the senior management and promise not to use the room or the complimentary stuff next time :)

Deffo checking out late morning to suit me , after a morning making the most of the leisure club! Paid for it....getting my money's worth :D

After being mesmerized watching the water gushing over the Weir, now sitting watching the swans by the swan sanctuary on the riverbank, (me...not the swans) enjoying a rum & raisin ice-cream.

This is the life !:)

Enjoying a drop of red.
After a relaxing morning (there's nothing quite like opening the curtains in the morning to be greeted with a view over a large expanse of water) couple of hours taking the dog out on our bikes and a bit light lunch at a rather nice but frightfully expensive waterside cafe, time to get in the car and head off for today's nerve wracking experience.

The dog has been left under strict instructions to be Mrs p's minder and make sure she leaves some wine undrunk for when we get back...

Got shown around a few rooms in a couple of hotels and sussed out the parking spaces , ready for our next visit down here. ( A good excuse to use their loos as well....had to check they were of high standard. ;)). Decision to give the other hotels a try for future breaks away was made for us when we got back to our hotel room..... Missing towels in bathroom!
" awaiting delivery". Resolved now, but with no complimentary toiletries left this time either ...

Am becoming a bit obsessed by butterflies.

Today i for the first time realised that i was looking at a female that was differently patterned to the male. As an ornitholgist this obviously made sense, but it was something of an 'Eureka' moment that made me feel as stupid as i should have done.

Whilst it only being May, i have already observed Peacock, Holly Blue, Small Tortoiseshell, Speckled Wood, Large White, and Orange-Tip flying thus far.

Nabokov - he of 'that book by Nabokov' in the song by The Police - was a lepidopterist. I remember that being one of the first things that i learned about him.

The 'New Criticism' wallahs didn't like that sort of thing at all.

Back home from my short break , continuing in holiday mode with rather potent homemade Pina Coladas on the patio (Pure pints of it though, non of those little fancy glasses filled mostly ice....this is the real deal ! :D ) Going down fast as though it's milkshake...

Found my photo of the hotel swimming pool ceiling which collapsed yesterday just before I went for a swim ....

Yeah, we got a quote from them but the Daikin stuff is a bit rich for my tastes and as I understand it they use them exclusively pretty much. It’s a hard sell to the wife, 4-figures a room.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they'd have done an excellent job. But I'm not necessarily looking for Daikin kit as it's some of the priciest on the market. I just need a nice simple split-AC that goes from the bedroom, up into the loft, round and down into a split unit on top of the garage.

5am..... Spent t 15 minutes willing the very young cat that was stuck on a conservatory roof to be able to jump back up to the open window to join it's sibling ,who was hanging out of the open window alerting it's owners.

Can finally go back to bed now... A final massively brave leap, cat now safe,. and their window is now firmly shut!
