Is this the ex-Allied Carpets, ex-Maxims or ex-Beneficial Bank?

They're claiming on-street parking and a car-park, which seems a bit 'ambitious' for any of them. The chaps in ex-Maxims told me they were aiming for the end of May. And that looks unlikely to me, having had a look in a few days ago..

It could be next to The Yard. Rather tenuous to suggest on-street parking, but it's only a walk away.

It could also be placed under those new apartments opposite the old post office or long shot in the old Woolworths.

Seems to be quite a few new bars opening in Stafford now! Hopefully that'll improve the nightlife a bit!, just need someone to buy the old Hogs Head - although I heard rental for a year cost £100k :|

The Sheridan was an early 'fun pub' on Saturday lunchtimes especially on Rangers cup days..

Although I have a feeling it had another name between the two - Wig and Pen?

Sounds familiar, but I'm sure it was back to the sheridan before the firkin had it. There was a 2 month period where it always had the local bikers in there, then it changed hands again.

ahaa Dappers yes indeed that could have been it - When would that be? Only I recall being invited in to the pub in the early eighties ,post Sheridan era, for a preview.

It was grim

Dappers was during the eighties as I under age drank in there.....oops, now I'm in trouble! Come in Mr Grape, your time is up!!!!
I had shoulder length mullet and a bum fluff tache so just about got away with it!
There was a period when Bill Turley, the chap who ran Foxy's at Penkridge and played in goal for Wolves, also Father of Bill Turley of Nothamptin Town & Oxford United (fame), ran it.
