New fashion store launches in Stafford shopping centre
Plus-size retailer Yours is one of a number of businesses due to open soon

A NEW store boasting plus-size fashion has opened in Stafford’s Guildhall Centre – and is set to be one of many new brands coming to the site.

Yours Clothing launched on Thursday in the former Wallis unit and a number of shoppers queued up to get a first look and grab goody bags.

And Guildhall centre manager George Demetriou said another high street retailer was set to move into a corner unit opposite Yours.

The name is yet to be revealed but Mr Demetriou said an announcement would be made soon.

He said: “It is one of a number of new businesses set to be moving in.”

He said Supercuts was moving into the former Carphone Warehouse and another retailer was about to sign on the dotted line.

It follows Jewellers Warren James recently moving into the Guildhall.

The centre has caused concern among Staffordians for some time after several stores moved out, including big-name brands such as Topshop and Wallis.

But Mr Demetriou said that would change over the coming months and the centre revamp would also help to rejuvenate it.

The new Yours store is the company’s first in Stafford, with its closest previously being in Stoke and Telford.

Shopper Latifa Gower, from Stafford, was first in the queue and was given the honour of cutting the ribbon.

She said: “I couldn’t wait to come here. I’ve been to the one in Birmingham and I love it.”

Glad more are coming, can't help wondering how much footfall has dropped now that the college doesn't open on to it though.

Hairdressers. 1 of which I shall never go in ever again.
Decided on the spur of the monet a few Christmas' ago to have my bum length hair cut off. Was off out with the workmates for the annual piss up. I told the girl exactly what I would like, and got the opposite. Was so shocked I paid and walked home without uttering a word of complaint. Sat in my bedroom and blarted my eyes out. Only person that comes near my hair with scissors now is my younger sister.

Heard a few stories like that - not sure if they were all Supercuts though. One friend got a buzz cut when he didn’t want anything close, the other a short back and sides when he just wanted a quick trim.
