Do we really need 3 Gregg's, 3 subways and 3 McDonald's soon?

We need variety, burger king, wimpy or there's loads of other different food places, I heard there's going to be another Costa coffee incorporated into the new cinema too.

Everybody has played Monopoly at least once in their lives.

The outcome shouldn't really come as much of a surprise.

And yet here we are.

Do not pass Go.

If you're in the center of town, or don't have long on a lunch break, the current Subway is a bit of a trek.

Of course we do if we're going to have a progressive "well rounded" 3 course meal, starters McDs, mains Subway and desserts Gregg's.

Having 3 locations of each gives a bit of variety each day and also means you don't have to walk as far.

Enjoying a drop of red.
It's a few minutes - probably 5 if you're quick (and the same back)- which if you only have a 30 mins lunch break or gap in between classes is a bit of a trek, especially if there's a queue at Subway.
Yer having a laugh. Five minutes walk!!!!

I haven’t seen a BK or a Wimpy in a while thinking about it. Are the UK branches struggling or do they just not have many stores?

Realistically though, when it comes to the guildhall any permanent store is better than no store (or a popup shop that sticks around for a month and barely sees any footfall)

I think the guildhall needs some sort of a social hub tbh, it's a shame all the major high street players that used to be big pullers are dead, hmv was great, even Waterstones that incorporates a coffee shop would be good. Just doesn't seem to be anything about these days tbh . Maybe a bar / restaurant / pub inithere would work, a sports bar even.

A giant 8 foot high chess set in the market square.

The board is already there - one square tarmac next square paving slab

Leisure gets a lot of incentives from shopping centres. I do a lot of work in the Virtual Reality arcade sector (think places you go, pay and get time on a headset to play a bunch of different games, go through a VR escape room, stuff like that) and shopping centres bite owners' hands off at the mere mention because it often brings more footfall to the location.

Unfortunately I don't think something like that would be sustainable with costs upwards of £100k a year in rent/business rates.
