Perfectly acceptable word to use.

From the spelling "favorite", that is an American dictionary so would use the word gotten which is American not English
There is nothing to say we cannot use words from another country - English is full of words from other languages. The pic below does say 'gotten' is not used in British English, but it dates back to Middle English - which I assume is from the British Isles.

I ♥ cryptic crosswords
You know things have got ( corr ) really bad when you hear an English BBC reporter pronounce debris, debris .

Outrageous

However, whilst we are on the subject of the USA, there can be few things funnier than an 'American' when he pronounces Cecil, Cecil

Try a whole sentence in Middle English and see how far people get with understanding you without any modern English words for context.

One rests one's case - about as understandable as going to Walsall.

Its a shame they were not able to find a buyer but after six months on the market, I guess it was not going to happen.

It's a shame it's closing. I went once with a junior apricot and really liked it. The fact that we only went once was due to lack of spare money rather than any dissatisfaction with Off the hook.
