Hi all,

I'm currently looking into office space in Stafford town centre as whilst working from home is great it does have its downsides and having been doing it for 6 years I'm also feeling that i've reached a productivity ceiling and really need to be in a more "work like" environment.

What I don't want to do however is just rent a small one man unit in a business centre as I don't really think that would be different enough to my home office, so I've been looking into the idea of co-working.

I've been to a few "Jelly" events where self-employed types pitch up somewhere and work together for the day and the productivity boost is amazing - just being around others doing a similar thing kinda creates a sort of communal motivation, and its great for sharing tips, ideas etc.

There's quite a bit of space available around the town centre so I thought i'd post this on the off-chance that there may be others in a similar situation locally and would be keen on the idea - not necessarily in full time occupation but even if you'd be interested in part time / casual use of a town centre workspace as an occasional change of scenery reply in the thread or drop me an email via the form - no commitment of course; just wanted to gauge interest!

Couple of examples of co-working spaces in the UK...

http://www.theoldchurchschool.co.uk/ (Frome, Somerset)

http://thetrampery.com/ (London)

Cheers!
Dave

The University have a business centre that has a shared office facility. Wouldn't meet you "town centre" requirement though.

not a bad idea, places around the tech park in beaconside are quite expensive

I would have been interested in this (I also work from home, although I'm already in the town centre) however I'm moving next month, if only this was planned a few months back! Good luck :)

Ah never mind! But if you change your mind about moving...!

The university / council run places are more focussed on incubation / startup with a view to growth (which makes sense of course from their point of view) so as a freelancer I think you'd get the impression that you're outstaying your welcome pretty quickly. The work-hub idea is a "place away from home" for freelancers and other home workers with a lifestyle business but not necessarily looking for that "business development" support or anything like that - just a desk, power socket, WiFi and a the buzz of the office environment that you start to miss after doing the home working or Starbucks Surfing thing for too long...!

Might be worth a check with the Uni, I know someone who has been with them and I know they certainly don't push anyone to grow at all... don't get me wrong, I think the support stuff is there if you want it but at the same time, if you just want to keep to yourself and never speak to anyone, they will leave you to get on.

Hi,

I may have just what you want. We have a 14 seater open plan office in the center of stafford and currently is only partially occupied.

Come take a look anytime and will do a competitive deal, certainly better than the uni.
