Old friend may return?

Aldi have agreed to let Stafford Rangers have the 'Freedom Caravans' canopy that used to protect people filling their vehicle! They are going to put it at the Shed End, where the old stand stood before it was demolished to make way for the temporary stand that was required to increase the capacity, prior to the start of the first season in 'The Conference', one league below The Football League (division 2). An old git like myself found it a bit hard to come to terms with. If memory serves me well, it increased the capacity to 4000; I had been in the crowd of 8,536 at Marston Road! A new club house had been built where people used to stand,, and Health and Safety had changed! :lorks: But it still seemed odd! :fap:
Graham Mitchell has driven the project of replacing 'The Shed End' raising 7,500 so far! From the faithful fans of the club! :bravo:and plans are being made, to transport the metal, and to install it. The home fans have been without somewhere behind the goal, to gather and sing since the demise of the old shed! At away grounds where groups could gather and give voice to their emotions under cover behind the goal, atmosphere has been fantastic. If the cover can be moved and we can get ' THE SHED BACK', a corner will have been turned, optimism already elevated for the new season, will go stratospheric

I can remember the old cover having a wooden catering facility in it, rather like.................well a 'Shed!' Drinks, chocolate, crisps, et al, were dispenced, to the ravenous faithful! My friend's had an admirer, the daughter of the owner, and if she was working she was always good for a free Mars, bar!
Had some memorable occasions in there, glory days of the club, FA cup run's, Trophy, winning the Northern Premier League, thousands of fans! Will shut up, my eye's are getting moist!  :embarrass:

Just to clarify - it's not the petrol station canopy but the large cover that covered the caravans. Approx 36m x 11m so a fair bit to shift.
A survey was carried out yesterday and the new structure is wider than the old shed by about 6 metres and deep enough to come forward to within a couple of feet of the perimeter fence.

bp I have given your contact details to the bloke heading up the project, so he may contact you, I to hope it comes off, but can see plenty of potential pitfalls! Hope I am wrong! (Won't be the first time! Ed )

All help in getting the shed end back is very welcomed especially from people who have some experience in steel erecting.

As you can probably gather from G2S and others, Stafford Rangers is fortunate to have a lot of fans who are determined to see the Shed End return and would very much welcome your expertise. We may not be able to offer financial rewards but what we can promise is a great weekend full of laughs and characters when we finally get to start putting it up (fingers crossed) and some of the best and cheapest beer in Stafford....... Plus this is the year that Kitch and the boys get us out of this league so lots to look forward too at Stafford Rangers.

Wildwood, the structure has now been dismantled and arrangements have been made to transport it to Stafford Rangers on Monday.

Next stage - submit a planning application to get it approved. Positive pre-app has been received so hopefully we should get approval. Hopefully, it shouldn't be too long before we are standing underneath the new shed end watching the team win.

Surely* should be a formality, given there was a temporary stand there a couple of years ago, & that passed regs'; there has been some recent building on the industrial estate behind the ground, and there are plenty of pre-fab units on the site. *(Don't call me Shirley! Ed  :soz: )

And while we are on it, great new developments at the Social Club, sponsors lounge and 3 windows onto the pitch! No jokes about safest place to position them would be anywhere near the goal the Rangers are attacking! are not funny and I predict unwarranted and may come back to bite the comic! You heard it here!

Just as well it's not destined for a cricket or hockey club or it would never be allowed...
