Oy!
Outwoods is the friendliest, loveliest place to live.

It is famous for damsons. The train used to stop at Outwoods for villagers to load the damsons they’d picked. The fruit was used for dye, in the shoe industry. Presumably everyone wore purple shoes.

It used to be well known for the Outwoods Tavern, which never shut. Until it did.

Rick Stein and Chalky filmed there. They were meeting our hens. Chalky was not keen on them. Or he was keen, but not in a good way.

With the pub closed, villagers make their own entertainment. We once attended a big party, with fireworks, fizz and fancy hats, to formally open a neighbour’s shed.

You can’t walk round Outwoods without someone offering you a lift - even if you are out for a walk. Compare that to our current neighbourhood, where a villager inexplicably slowed and stared down the drive at us, only this morning.

I never wanted to leave Outwoods and I’d go back there in a heartbeat.
