Do you mean Kexit? That'll take years to agree
What happens if you can never leave?
Blimey ! A totalitarian enclave in the middle of Stafford : The Peoples Republic of Kingsmead Car Park.
We're going to need an intervention from Trump.
That sign clearly states that "DRIVERS MUST STAY WITHIN THE RETAIL PARK FOR THE DURATION OF THEIR STAY".
Note 'THEIR STAY', not 'THEIR VEHICLE'S STAY'.
Could one also not walk from st Georges across the dual carriageway and exit and south walls ?
How do they monitor that ?
What happens if there is a driver swap after entering but befour the vehicle leaves is the "contract" still enforceable. Who would be liable for the "fine"
Ignore it anyway.
These are all PCNs and are barely enforceable anyway. You never admit that you were the driver, ask for proof, etc and watch as they drop it
Who needs the hassle?
Just don't park there. They'll change things soon enough when Aldi sees a drop in turnover, just as they did with ASDA.
There are other car parks and other supermarkets in town. Neither is in short supply.
Kingsmead are not charging B&M and Aldi customers to shop, so if anyone is genuinely shopping there they won't be affected .
Asda were charging their own shoppers which was part of the problem for them and hence customers voted with their feet.
Plenty of very cheap options to park in town.
I see little reason to go into Stafford town centre much nowadays. The buses I used to use, to go out socialising in the evening, have gone and the ever more complicated car parking rules put me off shopping there.
If a third of the car park wasn't in danger of flooding, I wonder if the capacity and such issues would be a worry? #justsayin
Asda have lost lots of custom off me since they tried that parking policy . For years I used to park in Asda weekly , do a big shop there and and sometimes nip quickly into town for the bank and few oddments at the same time. When they started the 'no leaving the carpark ' thing , I stopped shopping there at all for a long time. I park and shop in Asda very occasionally now if I need to go into town on a weekend , but mostly shop elsewhere nowadays.
I just park at Tesco when I go into town at the weekend. I'm not normally there for more than 3 hours. If I go out at night, I tend to park at Tenterbanks, but it's only £1 to park at the Civic Centre all night.
That is indeed true - and I never pay to park, but the problem (for many people) is that there are a large amount of (ever-changing) variations and, unless you know and keep up-to-date with the current situation, there is always a risk of being caught "innocently".
The charging on Bank Holidays is something I never spotted for decades.
And the 'one hour' in White Lion Street, when the old Lichfield Road is two hours.
The odd situation on Friars Terrace.
Having successfully eradicated town centre shoppers, the council has a cunning plan to send us all to Milton Keynes on HS2.
The town was spookily almost deserted thursday morning when I walked through after visiting my dentist . Apart from people in doorways, and a bloke talking loudly in the street to another guy, telling him how he'd duffed someone up the other day.., there were only a few other people wandering through town at that time.
At least on friday ,when I walked back down again , there were numerous chuggers looking for people to accost , making it look a bit busier
Missing the point - Kingsmead was supposed to generate footfall to that end of the town, which it has, but stopping people using the carpark for town will effect that footfall. The Council should have put in some clauses to ensure this never happened when selling off our carpark. This was a popular car park for Gatehouse visitors also in the past.
I have just parked in there and left without entering a shop.
This was because B&M seems to close at 8pm, although it looked open from the road.
If I disappear in the night, please send me a cake* with a file in.
*Lemon drizzle preferred.
