Parking on Corporation Street

More proof that the parking arrangements on Corp St are crap...

Just over two years ago my car got scraped by a van on Corp St. It effectively wrote the car off. I saw the van that did it, rang the Police (who never turned up - then again they never turned up when I caught someone breaking into the house) and all that... And gave all the details to my insurance company.

Today I finally got a letter from my insurance people. Because my car was illegally parked, the other company won't pay out.

It was "partly on the pavement". i.e. it was parked exactly where the SBC marked bays allowed it to be parked.

I will let you know the results of my discussions with th council over this.

The very best of luck mate.
Have you taken photo's of the parking "instruction" plates? Because they say it all really.

4000th post? Whatever, I'm nonchalant..
It's my understanding that when you take out insurance they ask you where you park your car. If your told them the car was parked in a parking bay outside your house, and that was where it was hit, they don't really have an argument do they?

Ah, but it wasn't outside my house, it was outside a friend's.

Many years ago NU tried to get out of paying out on a theft claim on my bike because it wasn't in the garage when it was stolen. That time it took two years before they finally coughed up, and admitted that I was allowed to go to the shops on it.

Insurance is pretty useless if you're not allowed to leave your garage/driveway.
