Pastiche Problems

Adding on the business rates, water and sewerage charges and other costs before you switch a light on and purchase any stock and tack on staff it makes you wonder how much a business needs to turn over before making any profit.
Saying that a number of businesses are successful with similar costs.

i used to love Pastiche, especially going upstairs.

However I had organised an outing. A meal first at Pastiche followed by a comedy night at the Met.

There were about 12 of us. I had e mailed the menu to the group previously so that we knew what we wanted and could order quickly.

We arrived at 5.45. Waited half an hour before anyone came to the table.

Won't go into details but the staff couldn't give a tinkers toss that we were on a time schedule. (Even though they advertise with the Gatehouse for pre theatre food).

We were the only table in there but they stood around chatting and we constantly had to call them over to ask when the food was coming.

I worked 22 years in catering and I can't bear staff standing chatting when customers are waiting to be served.

We got no apology, staff were totally uninterested.

Haven't been back since.

So sorry to hear of your predicament, give us a call at The Swan if you would like to see if we can help with a venue for your booking

Yeah - no thanks

I don't know why @That-Crazy-Rat-Lady chose to give that response to a company that was offering to help when the restaurant originally booking their wedding let them down?

I can only speak as I find but I only wanted a teeny tiny wedding and @TheLewisPartnership did this brilliantly for me in January.

Been twice wouldn't go back. I will always give a restaurant or pub a second chance, we can all have an off day.

I was a bit gob- smacked when I read that reply as well, and wondering the reason for such a response to an offer of help! :?:

Sorry if my response came across rude.

For me - I felt the comment from Lewis Partnership was a cheap shot at gaining business from the downfall of a rival.

I created this thread as information to others - with the hope of gleaning more insight into the 'Pastiche Problem' not as a thread to advertise my needs.

Although we are famous at going off topic!!

Fair enough, but in all honesty I thought he was trying to help. Each to their own but I didn't see it as soliciting, they don't really need to as the lp places are usually very busy.

Always got the impression @ChrisLewis was very supportive of other businesses in town so would be surprised if it was anything more than a genuine offer of help.

Have you found somewhere yet @That-Crazy-Rat-Lady ? Really sad news if Pastiche don't manage to find somewhere but as someone said above hopefully somewhere like Bella Italia would suit them.

I'm thinking about going to the Greyhound at Burston - another one of our favourite family haunts - and our original idea for a wedding venue - but then we decided to sack off the big party and go on holiday instead!
The Greyhound just now said:
I've revised the format / style of the web site over the last few months as it has become obvious fewer people use computers to surf the Net and use smart phones / tablets instead.
So the aim has been to provide the same info but in a more user friendly format. That's why the menus have been simplified and use a larger font, but to compensate the Daily Specials Board has been expanded and for people thinking of booking the restaurant for a "do" the printed menus are now downloadable in PDF format for easy viewing on whatever hardware is your choice.
Let me have your views or (polite) suggestions on what YOU would like to see on the site.
Regards
R
