I heard something scurrying between our ground and first floor late last night and then again below me on the top floor (we have a 3 storey house). I went into the loft and found some dropping although I can't tell if they are from a Squirrel or Rat.

Can anyone personally recommend a local Pest Control business ? I'm aware the council offer a service which we used many many years ago however I was wanting to utilise a local business.

    Cheers

If the loft I'd expect squirrels tbh, not an expert but my rats stuck to the ground floor and living room ceiling. I guess depends on entry point though, mine had damaged the sewer entrance and were in the cavity walls!

Well i'm hoping for squirrels thinking on the same lines(if you could choose one or the other), but we've had rats in the garden historically...they had tried to chew on the plastic fascia of an airbrick 3-4 months but we got it covered up quickly.

When I concreted up the drain damage (which had flooded sewage into my cavity wall after a blockage!) they ate the feckin pipe to regain access! Tenacious little buggers.

My sister gets them in the cavities at the farmhouse. Puts poison down for them. Buggers don't half stink when they're dead!

Not heard anything for at least a year, but I had to leave the drain cover up for a few weeks and cover everything in bleach several times to get rid of any scent markers. I even put a battery operated rodent scarer down there, batteries are long dead but for weeks you'd hear it occasionally go off!
Oh god, yes, a few died in the walls

Eventually, her kitchen smells a treat at times, especially in the warmer weather. and you can't remove the corpse without taking the house apart. Don't think her landlady would be very happy about that.

We worked out where they gained entry from the cavity to the inner house due to where some maggots appeared :(

We have someone coming out on Monday morning so we'll see what they say....

We had a rat die under the deck during the summer and that was bad enough. We're going to take the deck up during the winter and just patio it...

That's the chap who came out today. Very reassuring. I've letters the other houses in our row, and discovered one which had a whole brick missing under the doorstep :soz:

He's coming back in 10 days to check on progress....

Apologies I forgot to reply to say the issue was resolved. A few days after his 2nd visit a dead rat appeared at the end house in our row. We did have something nibble a nut on the trap he left on that visit (after the deceased rat had been taken away) but we've had nothing since, no noise and no smell. Very happy with the service Pat gave, he even loaned a vacuum cleaner to get rid of all the mess. Top bloke.
