Plug pulled on Stafford Castle Music Festival?

Isn't that what used to be called "The middle of nowhere festival" or something similar. My lads went a couple of years ago, it was pretty good apparently.

It's unrelated to the (still going) Middle of Nowhere Festival, other than the fact they use the same field.

StaffsFest is what used to be called 'Stafford Blues Festival' for its first couple of years of existence.

You've taken the word 'police' a tad literally here, it was, as you know, intended to refer to 'the policing' of the event and not the Police Force themselves.
Dude, that's exactly why it was 'unintentionally' funny. I ain't agin you.
Had 'security' been funded or managed adequately at previous events then perhaps the question raised in the Chief Constables office may never have arisen.
Year on year, the amount of 'security' had increased to the point that it was inconceivable to think that the event was in any way profitable - there must have been 50+ security staff working a ten hour shift apiece, and i'm not about to do 'the math', but this can not have been in any way 'funded' cheaply.

Complaints about a £5 entry fee must be taken in this context.

I don't think we can lay the blame at the feet of an organisation that has taken over a legacy event that has clearly built up a reputation long before it became their remit.
Not yet we can't, but i'd like to think that pressure could be put upon them to fulfil this particular obligation, and if they fail to fulfil it, one would hope that the appropriate level of ire would rain upon the appropriate heads.

Anyway, whatever the outcome here, Stafford would surely benefit (from) some form of local music event that encourages the young (or not so) and talented of the area to air their talents in a safe and family friendly environment.
In this we are in whole-hearted agreement.

Not so.

As far as one has been able to ascertain, so far it's still on.

As things stand.

Updated i will keep you if things change.

As far as my understanding of the situation goes, this is an event that Freedom are contractually obliged to continue to deliver.

I reckon we've definitely got one more.

After that it'll probably get a bit shonky.

We should probably enjoy this one as if it were our last.

If there are to be any subsequent ones, we should probably treat them in the same way. :slayer:

Any word on the grapevine about this @Withnail?

My inbox has been filled with reminders to get my ticket for Shakespeare these last couple of days, but a bit of googling turned up nothing on the music festival this year. I would be keen to perform again, should it be going ahead.

Thank you, i shall put the feelers out and see who's organising the music this year :)

They didn't announce it until very late last year either, so it may be part of their strategy to minimise the lunkhead element I suppose?
