Actually, I think you've had it a bit easy. It's usually worse than this....

'According to a leading economist' - if economists, leading or otherwise, actually knew anything then none of this would have happened. When wondering if an economist's pronouncements are worth anything, it is worth finding out what he was saying this time last year, or the year before.

And it's only an issue if you are moving isn't it? And even then, it might not be an issue if the house you buy also goes down...

Nobody knows what will happen, only what is happening (and often not that). There are forums dedicated to arguing about who is right concerning future house prices, yet nobody actually has a clue really.
