"A Premier League player is being forced to pay £15,000 every three months in protection money to a London gang, according to a BBC World Service investigation.
The World Football programme claims footballers are easy prey. A member of a London gang told the BBC that one player had to pay them protection money or risk attack.
The Professional Footballers' Association said clubs need to be aware of security issues. A Merseyside gang member also claimed that players filmed in lap-dancing clubs and brothels had paid blackmail demands."
