Sounds really good!

Any suggestions for a tuna alternative? (Its about the only thing Quorn cant make!) It sounds really really yummy!

Yo can get a three bean salad with the dips/ready made pasta tubs, the one from Tesco comes with a lovely sauce and if you bulk it out with rice and salad you'd make a good meal.

I had a quorn curry lunch pot last week - very nice, and, and quick, and easy!

I've hit the diet so I'm going quorn mad, fake spag bol is on the menu for later in the week.

Thanks Bob sounds deee-lish!

The curry pots are epic! The Biriani is the best ;)

I have the official Quorn cook book, if you want any recipes give me a shout!

The Linda McCartney rosemary and red onion sausages are awesome if your having a bbq :)

How to they hold up calorie wise to the quorn ones? I'm not a huge fan of sausages anyways so I'll always have fake over real.

I'm not sure I could ever go all out veggie though, and if I did I'd have to keep fish on the menu.

I agree! Its just not cheese on toast if you haven't toasted both sides of the bread, then toasted the cheese too!

Husband makes it the silly way, I think its a Stokie thing ;)
Potters/ Clayheads toast the bread 1 side first, then bung the cheese on the other. Ive never heard owt so daft as only doin 1 side.

Google tells me there are 129 calories per sausage, I don't know what calories mean so don't know if that's good or not but they are delicious!

That's what he does! Only toasts one side, turns it over, puts cheese on then toasts that side...

He tried to make his mum cheese on toast when he was little.....cheese spread spread on bread, then bunged in the toaster...its a wonder he didn't set fire to the house...

I toast it both sides, then put the cheese on and toast it again....the propper way ;) (usually with a but of spicy mango chutney under the cheese)

This is how I do it, sometimes I use tomato paste and make mini pizza toasties, can even add red onion if I'm feeling adventurous!

I like to toast crumpets, both sides, obviously, and then top with cheese and toast that - a top snack.

If you can download 'My Fitness Pal' it will tell you the calories of every bit of food and drink you consume each day, it also allows you to add your daily exercise to calculate your calories/fitness.

Lol, I started using it last November when I found I was diabetic, I lost half a stone in one month by cutting out carbs and sugar, but then it was Christmas and all the carbs crept back in :( You can keep cakes and chocolate, my love is potatoes, pasta and rice....must start using it again, and find out how to set the carb levels....Its really good if you are looking to loose weight.

Carbonara is a good quick one too.

Carton of single cream (the middle sized one)
3-4 rashers streaky bacon or pancetta - sliced into thin strips
clove or two of garlic
2 egg yolks
Parmesan

Cook enough spaghetti/fettucini for 2 people

While cooking pasta, beat egg yolks into the cream in a bowl, add as much parmesan as you'd like and mix thoroughly.

When the pasta is 5/6 mins from done, fry bacon in a pan until crispy and oozing (depending on the nature of the bacon used here, i tend not to add any oil but let the fat come from the bacon itself in a dry pan, otherwise use a bit of olive oil) for 4/5 mins.

Add sliced garlic and fry for a minute or so.

Drain pasta and put back in the pan it was cooked in, add contents of the bacon pan and those of the eggy cheesy creamy bowl and stir into the pasta until its all mixed together and eat instantly.

I sometimes use that vacuum packed 'pretend' gammon that most super markets stock in my carbonara.

Chicken breasts coated in flour, dipped in beaten egg then coated in breadcrumbs. Pop in the oven about 20 mins at 175 for a fan oven. I make my own breadcrumbs from old bread in the blender then add chilli, salt, pepper and a few fennel seeds. Very quick and tasty.

Sometimes I make my own vegan pizzas with various types of bread as the base (I have used pitta breads, breakfast english muffins cut in half, ciabatta or baguette cut lengthways or thickly sliced for mini pizzas), spread on something tomatoey (even ketchup will do!) then add Cheezly. It's awesome and so easy! I'm sure you could add other toppings but I can never be arsed and I live on my own so fresh veg is a rarity in my house.

Or pork steaks hammered about a quarter inch thick, coated the same and shallow fried. Served with potato salad or a creamy mushroom sauce.

this one isn't "quick" in terms of how long it takes to cook, but it's quick to chuck together then you just leave it - i do it every sunday, and it does me for lunch all week :)

Simple Chicken Soup

(makes 5 lunchtime portions)

1 x Cooked chicken
5 x Carrot
5 x Celery stick
2 x Onion
1 x Peeled potato if you have it (by no means mandatory, but I always have a spare spud knocking about)
2 x Stock cube - I use veg, but any would work (like chicken, obv's)

1. Stick a big pan on the smallest hob, fill with ~2 litres water, add the 2 stock cubes. Turn hob to max.
2. Chop all the veg up and chuck it in the pan.
3. Tear all the meat off the chicken and add to the pan in small, bite-size chunks.
4. Bring it to a simmer, then stick the lid on the pan and turn the hob to the lowest setting.
5. Leave it to simmer away for at least an hour.
6. Remove the lid, give it a good stir, then turn the heat up so that it is just simmering with the lid off. Add salt & pepper to taste.
7. Leave it like that, simmering with the lid off, so that it gradually reduces.
8. Periodically check & stir it. Once it is a consistency you like, turn the heat off and leave it to cool.

et voila - a big pot of lovely, tasty soup, which will easily keep for a week and so provides a healthy, cheap lunch every day :)

i know it isn't culinary rocket science, but as i say the idea of the thread is stuff that is quick & easy to put together, for those of us who like to cook "real" food but haven't got time for too much faffing about :P

Thai spiced pork burgers.

1lb minced pork 3 teaspoons Thai green curry paste, mix well, make into 4 burgers, barbecue, eat.
Doesn't get much quicker or simpler.
