Reading Glasses found in Stafford

I found a pair of reading glasses in Wilkinson car park today and wasn’t quite sure what to do with them.
I could have taken them in to Wilkinson but there was no guarantee that the person who had lost them had even been into the shop.

They look to be varyfocals so someone is possibly quite lost without them (not to mention the cost of buying another pair).
They are brown framed and from Specsavers.

I’m just wondering if you lovely people could help me to reunite glasses with owner.

I’m not on Facebook or Twitter but I believe there is a Facebook page for Stafford?
Is there anyone who would be kind enough to put something on there please?

I just know that if I’d lost mine I’d be so happy if someone had taken the trouble to help me get them back.

Thanking you in advance.

I hope they can read the message. :P

No fun losing varifocals, my Wifes last pair cost nearly £700!

I've just put a post on the 'Nextdoor' website for Wildwood and neighbouring areas.

Thanks @staffordjas that’s kind.
I hope someone puts it on Facebook spotted Stafford as well.

Yes I thought that too, but hopefully they might have someone else who reads it and passes the message on.
Also with the cost of them not everyone has a spare pair either.

I've only got the one pair of varifocals as they cost so much . (Keep them for best for driving, and use my old ones when needed occassionally for TV )

I haven't got a facebook account, but just use hubbys to look at what's going on on the Stafford ones (Don't post on it though) I'll keep watching out for any mention of lost glasses on them.

I had two pairs of fairly extreme varifocals from Asda a couple of years for well under two hundred quid, I think.

I think my wife's varifocals cost increased as she had designer frames .
I've gone with cheap frames with mine as I only need glasses for reading small print.

It's extremely interesting to know how much (or little) you all paid for your glasses but to get back on topic..,

Anyone here on Facebook yet who can help reunite the glasses with the owner?

It could be a pensioner or someone desperately lost without their glasses.

No reply yet on our local Next Door site. Is there anyone else on the Nextdoor site elsewhere in Stafford who could put it on?

Could you take them to specsavers, they might have a record of who bought that style frame with that prescription.

Well after waking up at 4.00am worrying about the person who had lost them I actually came to the same conclusion.

I’ve got to admit to being disappointed that no one can help with the Facebook thing. I really thought there would be at least one person who wouldn’t mind taking 5 minutes out of their day to put themselves out to help another person.

What is ridiculous though is that Stafford, the County Town has no police station where you can walk in to hand things in that you have found (not to mention other, more serious issues).

So I went into Stafford and took them to Specsavers. They can’t identify the owner from the glasses but they will keep them in case the person happens to go in to order a new pair and mentions that they had lost a pair.

Bit of a long shot but I didn’t know what else to do.

Been no replies where I posted it. Maybe if someone hears someone else mentioning it around Stafford it might just jog their memory that they saw a post about it. I'll keep looking daily just incase.

I don't do Facebook or would have helped.

At least you've tried as much as you could have.

Isn't there a Stafford lost and found in a Stafford social media site somewhere? If not I think there is one on Staffordshire.police.uk or something similar.

I’m not sure Facebook would have been any more use than what you tried here. Even if someone like Spotted Stafford has posted it, it would have got lost amongst all the nonsense “banter” on there.

Yes, NextDoor isn't much better - but it does seem a central lost property office would be a useful thing to have back.
