I have assisted collect so I'd be interested to know if the collectors are physically capable of moving a fully loaded blue bag without wheels as well.

Not against recycling at all. I've been religiously washing everything out so that it doesn't contaminate other stuff in the bin , and everything so far that can be recycled has been .( Even brought bags of stuff from sons house which they don't accept, and vice versa.) Paper has been put in the caddy separately.
I carry my used batteries to the local shops , as well as recycling litter from the nearby alleyway and streets.

But with antics of binmen and neighbours lately, especially with not just a case of putting my own bin at the top of my own driveway and having it sitting there til It's brought in ( 5 houses put at top of driveway which everyone has to drive past, including numerous delivery drivers and people using our entrance to turn in the road) it's going to be rather ridiculous with so many bins, bags, cardboard boxes blocking the single width driveway to get in and out. Up til now it's been me who has moved the bins after they have been dumped blocking access, but not going to be trying to secure all the blue bags and cardboard left slung just anywhere as well!

The bin men are late this morning. They're usually here by 8:00.

I just wonder if they're delivering the new recycling bags. (Oooh ..... I can't wait )

LOL .... or not until this Coronavirus thing blows over.

Here's the birthday card my wife gave me a few years ago. It's currently pinned-up inside my shed.

Anyway, the binmen came just before 10:00, and no new recycling bag was left.

We didn't have 1 left yesterday either. Or we did and it either blew away or was nicked.

I was under the impression from the letter that they were being posted out around 16th march (not got the letter anymore , so I'm probably wrong.)

    Sounds like you're right.

I had something happening in the middle of March in my mind's eye, and as our next collection won't be until after that (on the 19th), I wondered if the new bags might have been handed out with today's collection.

So another two weeks. As my daughter would say "Hey. .... The fun just never ends.".

I spoke to a bin man about this and he said that his colleagues are completely opposed to the system, which already operates in some areas they cover.

They find the bags difficult to lift and carry, repetitively and because they don’t hold as much cardboard as the bins, people leave excess stuff alongside the bags, meaning they also have to pick up piles of sodden (at least I THINK he said sodden...) cardboard on their rounds.

My pet peeve is the council literature saying how marvellous it is that the bag (holding paper and cardboard) has a larger capacity than the caddy (holding only paper and usually full). As someone who has spent many years employed to present a positive perspective on sometimes unpalatable news, I hope I’ve avoided anything that transparently insulting to the intelligence of readers.

Intelligence may not be high on the agenda. For many years, the instructions about the blue bin said this.

    Q. Do labels and lids need to be taken off glass and plastic containers?
    A. There is no need to remove labels. Please remove all lids; they can be placed separately in the blue bin. Leaving the lids on causes vacuums inside the containers that make them difficult to compact within the vehicle.

My bag arrived yesterday. Too small and possibly too light, but mainly too small.

Our bags were left on the step today. There was one on the doormat of empty house next door earlier. Bit later on it had blown a few feet along the driveway . Going to be fun on windier collection days.
