I only found out last nite about the riots, been on hols and i dont watch or listen to news on hol. As far as i can make out 1 druggy with a gun and the police, druggy points gun at police and gets shot by police!! Yeah!! I dare say its something that you would expect to happen if you go around commiting crime and threatning police!

Then came the free for all - what do you expect!! Human rights/gov on hols..etc. Its been a long time coming! Bet theres gonna be a huge compensation bill to pay to these idiots too (if theres nothing now, there soon will be).

As for that injured kid on news today getting robbed! The people who done that to him are just sick! pity they done away with hanging, we could of watched the bitch that done it cry like a baby!

I work in Hammersmith, me and my engineers were advised to evacuate the area by the police. My other half has then rung me up, who works in the police, telling me to get the hell out of the area and only drive home via central London via the main road.

2 hours agoThe police have just come in and said its going to go off in wolvehampton tonight,and they are going to meet at whitmore reans (where the garage is)..they have said we need to be gone by 1800...and hope for the best.....TBH theres groups gathering as i,m writing this.. FFS !!!!!!!!!!!

Google Group Members to Use Facial Recognition to Identify London Rioters

A new Google Group called “London Riots Facial Recognition” has appeared online, in the wake of the riots that rocked the U.K. capital over the weekend. The group’s goal is to use facial recognition technologies to identify the looters who appear in online photos.

However, there’s a major “creepy” factor to this undertaking, too. The idea that a group of people would team up online to use (misuse?) facial recognition technologies in this way, notably outside professional law enforcement channels, seems like a modern take on vigilante style justice, where the torches of the angry villagers have turned into APIs and algorithms.

In one newer thread, started just this morning, a commenter offers their assistance in building a tool using the Face.API, which could help identify people in photos posted on Facebook, Flickr and Twitter. There is even talk of using the Facebook Graph API and the Twitter API in conjunction with the Face.com one to help better identify the criminals.

I'm sitting in an office on Southwark street. I'm more then a little nervous about the journey home in and hour & a half.

Surely anyone identified would have to be in the rioting pics? And if there is no photographic evidence of them actually rioting, and a curfew is not in place, they cannot be touched?

Of course if my business went up in flames and I saw photos of people stood around watching it burn, I may feel slightly more opinionated about what 'proof' is needed.
