Rogue Snake on the loose (maybe a lost pet?)

Had a bit of a shock today when I went to close the front window, had a snake draped over it! It left shortly after but came back later to hang out on our front wall.

After taking some pictures and resorting to Reddit and a couple snake books (snake people are closed at the weekend according to RSPCA) we think it's a Ratsnake (possibly Japanese Ratsnake) which are apparently normally pets so I thought I'd check if anyone's lost one recently?

We're on Peel Terrace just off Sandon Road.

In the olden days if someone had lost something or found something they would phone the police, who I do believe still have a system in place.

So you could phone them perhaps?

Sorry Crimson fox, but is your avatar what I think it is, and if so, why?

Ah, that may be a good idea cheers.

I've had this avatar probably about a decade now and have come to the conclusion it's the equivalent of an ink blot test. What do you see it as, then I'll tell you what it is. :p

Eek.

I might be revealing more of myself than I wanted to.

But what I see in your avatar is a naked woman sitting to the right and then on the left, a man holding his favourite part and about to .....well, ...do it.

Oh dear Carole!! ;)

I can't see what you see in the picture, but then again I can never find the picture in the magic eye thingys.

If I had found that snake on my window I think the owners would have heard me scream, even if they lived in Manchester.

What a thing to find!

You seem very laid back about it, aren't rattlesnakes very dangerous?

Is the snake even alive?? it looks as though it has been positioned in place and pics taken. Its head has not risen in any of the photos and they don't move with their head on the ground.
You could also call a vet as well as the police

250,000th poster!
I found a Rat Snake in my Garden years ago when I lived in the Midlands, it was huge- and the RSPCA refused to come out as it was a bank holiday!

Look up your local reptile shop & give them a call - they are usually happy to help, as I remember the police werent interested as they thought I had seen a slow worm!! :)

whilst I am on one what do you think of the beauty course at stafford college for young girls? apparently places are being snapped up and the course is nearly closed. They need life skills to help them get through to adulthood. Are we British or American here? Beauty pageants next! I hope not

Interesting, I can kinda see where you're coming from....almost. :P To tell the truth, it's difference clouds with an outward blur and a red tint.

Sod UKIP, I would ban the damn things!

Why would anyone want that as a pet?

Each to their own I guess, they're low maintenance and more of a display pet. Some people just like snakes.

It was definitely alive, trust me on that, otherwise I would have got some much better photos. The first, second and third images are of it moving with it's head raised. First and third has it's tongue out as well if you look closely.

I'm pretty sure with the RSPCA, if it's suspected to be harmless and is outside then if anything, coming to remove it would be against what they actually do. These animals do much better without the direct interaction with humans especially removing them from the current environment. If it's harmless I've not got a problem with it, apart from the fact it's still a little creepy.

That's definitely not a slow worm. Where is it now? What has become of said snake?

And that's the last we saw of it.
