Wonder why Adam Hill, head of SBC Leisure, took on a directorship of brand new company, Stafford Rugby Ltd, then resigned as a director of Stafford Rugby Union Football Club Ltd? Interesting that both the 2014 and 2016 applications were by 'Stafford Rugby Club', a name that doesn't exist at Companies House.

Let's say this twice incase it gets missed , let's hope Sport England don't realise a part of a cover up , is this also a slight administration error being corrected in a fresh planning application , even the membership don't realise a senior council officer is a director on the board

Whatever was true now was true from everlasting to everlasting. It was quite simple all that was needed was an unending series of victories over your own memory. "Reality control," they called it; in Newspeak, "doublethink."

Changing the subject for a while, if the Rugby Club gets the go ahead, will it be allowing this at the new ground?

A review of the plans shows that the development will create a new wetland area at the end of the site. This provides enhanced environment for waders etc. actually increasing the area of wetland for the species that use the area. This is of course outside the Nature Reserve. The proposed site is not wetland. You do not tend to find wetland migratory birds in the middle of dry grassland.

I do know now that what MAL means about increasing the wetland jet skiing and cannot erect a set of changing rooms due to a well used water Culvert and hedges ? But as a Rugby Club spokesmen in the form of director or chair not sure what , the answer to flooding problems is when you dig a big enough hole for yourself you have to fill it ,

Out of interest, is there an artists impression yet of how it will look? They always lie anyway, but I'm still yet to see one which seems odd. In this day and age it should be very easy to render a 3D model of how it will roughly look so that you could decide for yourself, any sign of any actual plans yet or is it all still imaginary? Don't you need actual plans to get consent?

Maybe it will be so obviously hideous no artist wants to put their name to it?

New plans for Stafford Rugby Club as dispute with residents threatens vital cash
Stafford Rugby Club is in a race against time to settle a planning ruck which could threaten up to £500,000 worth of funding.

Stafford Rugby Club’s plans to relocate are to go to a judicial review as residents raised questions over the planning process

The club has submitted a fresh application to relocate after an ongoing dispute over the original planning permission threw vital funding into doubt.

The borough council gave the green light for the move, which would see a new site on Doxey marshes, last year but that decision has now gone to a judicial review as residents raised questions on the planning process.

How the club’s new base could look in Blackberry Lane – although up to £500,000 worth of grants have now been left in the balance
It could take months for the situation to be resolved which would scupper time-sensitive grants the club was hoping to get, including £480,000 from Sport England to install an artificial pitch.

That would result in the multi-million pound scheme to move the club from Newport Road to Blackberry Lane being downgraded.

As a result the club has now resubmitted the plans, hoping the new application could be given the go-ahead before the dispute over the previous proposal comes to a conclusion.

An aerial view of the rugby club in Castlefields
Director Martin Lennon said: “The legal situation is not decided. In the meantime the club has taken the decision that given the uncertainty around that, to submit a new application to the borough council.

“The judicial review could take too long and we just want to get on with it. We have a lot of grant money that is time dependent including half a million from Sport England.

“We will still move forward and still build it either way but it won’t be as good as it could be if we get all of the funding.”

He added: “It boils down to whether the old regulations or the new regulations were followed through the planning process. I can’t speak for the motivations of the residents other than to say they want to try their best to delay this.”

The project is worth £3.5m in total and would see a new clubhouse built at the new site at Doxey Marshes.

More than 100 residents who live near the new site have objected mainly over traffic.

A campaigner said: “We don’t deny the club needs better facilities, but it would be better to do it where they can expand.”

The borough council was not in a position to comment when approached by the Express & Star on Friday.

So we know what the building is meant to look like, but where will it sit and surrounded by what? You always get 'look how wonderful it will look image', Bristol Street motors was half shrouded by mature trees for example (which of course never happened). Seems odd, or rather pertinent perhaps, that none are to be seen.

As for the half million shortfall just ask Lord Stafford to cough up, it's a small chunk of what he'll be pocketing on the housing deal.

So do they own the new site? Is Lord Stafford making so much from the houses he is giving them the marshes? Or is part of that 3.5m to buy the land?

Also continuously aware that rugby is the only sport the council care about, why 7 rugby pitches but the hockey club told to sling their hook? I'm not even sure Stafford rangers would be allowed to build 7 pitches and they hold much higher status in the community. 7 rugby pitches won't help redress the loss of facilities at beaconside, it is only to help rugby players. All this for the good of the town stuff is bullshit really, how many locals really play?

And of course I mean actual locals, the ones that couldn't possibly travel as far as beaconside as the unnecessary car journeys will be an issue and too unfit to cycle it.

Enjoying a drop of red.

I have never yet been past the current site when all 4 of their existing pitches were in use at once, so goodness knows why they need and are being allowed 7 when the hockey club aren't allowed an artificial pitch on their own grounds that would cause nobody any harm.

As previously mentioned

It is not unusual for an applicant to ask for far more than it really wants in planning

It then appears to compromise/back down as a means of appeasing councillors/opposition whilst getting exactly what it wants

One of the umpteen supporting messages diverted from the FB page reckons that this new development will reduce childhood obesity, so that should be good enough for the planning committee to grant permission. If the club expand the site to ten pitches they might be able to cure cancer and world poverty as well..

So what your thinking is realistically the club only want a new clubhouse and an ATP , they will chance their arm to get everything else or end up with nothing and a 999 lease on a patch of land with a 60 year lifespan ? They have 40 years left on the current lease ! So build a new clubhouse and install your ATP on current site without up heaving some six hundred or so thousands of cubic meters to raise the level so it doesn't flood ? Apparently! , disturbing the balance of mother natures and Staffords flood defences , chopping down trees , disturbing habitats for bats , and other protected species and illuminating it , to satisfy the privaliged membership only sports facility ?

But how can Lord Stafford cash in if they won't move? He'll be dead in 40 years, he needs to make spare millions now dammit!

As for curing childhood obesity, they do know the vast majority of kids don't play rugby? It will always play second fiddle to football, which in turn is dwarfed by PlayStation. You want to cut down on fat kids? Stop driving them to school and feeding them crap, problem solved without destroying the marshes.
