So much for the 'no-spill' floodlights that were much trumpeted when people were moaning about light pollution on the marshes.

There was a sh1t load of spill last night as far as I could see.....

Earlier on in this thread I challenged the green effect and all that goes with it. The club will now be under the microscope for all they promised. It's an open public club. Go and have a look!

Nuisance lighting can be reported to Stafford Borough Council's Environmental and Health Services. It would need to constitute a nuisance as defined under section 79(1)(fb) of the Environmental Health Act 1990.

Other remedies may be available.

This got me thinking of your post; Birmingham Uni's all weather pitches yesterday evening. Not sure how they compare as I've not seen the rugby club's floodlights yet.

I'll tell you what - instead of spreading facile platitudes, i read every single application appertaining to this before it was approved.

I contacted Natural England to try and make them take more of an interest in it than they appeared to be doing so, repeatedly. In fact i think there was some sort of collusion between the first and second applications that would probably find an element of naughtiness that might make someone sweat if it were explored in more depth.

I objected to this application before it was granted, and talked to whoever i could to add their objections while they were being sought. Friends, family, colleagues, i tried to get anyone within my 'sphere' to object to this 'development' before it could be, well, developed.

As it became increasingly apparent that we were about to be ignored, i joined the March against it - foregoing my access to a keyboard whilst joining near to a hundred people or so demonstrating against this development.

I also went to every Planning Meeting where this 'development' was openly discussed, hoping that what were packed meetings would at least give some sort of indication that this was hugely opposed - this was not "keyboard warrioring", this was lots of people coming together to oppose a bad idea.

So you have completely misunderstood what has been lost, because what has been lost has been explained to you by someone who has no comprehension of what has been lost? I feel we have all understood a lot here. Next time you see him, maybe you could just shout 'CORRIDOR!' at him and see how he reacts.

This is my all-time favourite part of your *completely-unbiased-won't-somebody-think-of-the-children* tour of 'our' new spangly facilities. How many have considered how many thousands of pounds Lord Stafford could not have 'realised' from this parcel of land if he couldn't have sold it as a 'green space', whilst flogging the previous Rugby Club land to property developers?

Will no-one think of the crying needs of the Landed Gentry?

I hadn't realised the enormity of that til I was stood in the place.

Do you not see that some of us did before it was built? That some of us saw that it may well have been the right thing, but it was most certainly in the wrong place? This is a tragedy, but it is a tragedy that has already taken place - many on this forum were there to oppose it from the start. How f**king dare you accuse us of being passive 'keyboard warriors'?

That they won, against what i can at least say was against all that i personally could have done to oppose it, does not mean we're just going to just get over it. Because it is the wrong development, in the wrong place, and the fact that it is now there will not change that fact.

I was also on the march, the idea that this hasn't damaged the wetlands to the detriment of the wildlife is absurd. There are many places it could have gone, but this way Lord Stafford got richer quicker.

Let them do what they will, and think what they will, about the works that they do, but it will be known to those that know, that it will be ipso facto detrimental to that environment.

I understand that some people will never be happy with the location of the club and all the history that behind it. However, as previously stated, it was not the club’s choice.
We want to crack on with it, get to know our neighbours, build a community facility that I for one am already proud of.
It’s easy to lob stones at a glass house from a short distance but hopefully people will come down for a visit and maybe, just maybe realise we’re not such a bad bunch after all.
The doors open and despite protests, we’re not going anywhere xx
