We appear to have been unsubscribed.

@WoolmanT are we not joining the circle-jerk you were expecting?

What did you expect?
Circle jerk you were expecting? Unsubscribed? It would be a lot easier to give answers if I understood the questions. Apologies but I no idea what you mean.
One gets the impression that you were quite confident that after all the unpleasantness of the application process, people would be happy to 'crack on' and join you in universal praise of your fantastic-absolutely-no-downside-what-so-ever facility, perhaps we could all mutually pleasure each other as we enjoy our new future... *circle-jerk*

Your absence was long, and came amid a barrage of questions that remained unanswered, one wondered if you had left us... *unsubscribed*

It's not that complicated.

Whilst i appreciate @The Hawk 's repeated attempts to strike a conciliatory note, one can't help picturing him as Zhukov...

I'm going to ease back here, because i do genuinely appreciate you taking the initiative of keeping us informed even though we are (some of us) a tough crowd, but i will say this; yes 'we are where we are', but that does not mean that i have to like it, because i do not, and i will not, and will never do so.

What you have created is a disaster, and what's more an unmitigated one, because there is literally nothing you can do to mitigate against what has been lost.

Ah @Withnail ,good hearing from you. Thanks for clearing up what a ‘cycle jerk’ is. Sounds like an interesting pastime.

Apologies for the tardiness of my reply, I have a day job as well as stuff on at the rugby club so time can be a little short. But rest assured, I haven’t unsubscribed my friend.

Right, the light assessment was done on Nov 14th, emails exchanged on the 18th, then......nothing. I’m not overly impressed, so I have chased this morning. I’m good to my word, when I have the report, we will let people know. If remedial work is required, it will be done.

We had a productive initial meeting with SWT last week. To be honest it was more of a show round. They are going to come back to us with recommendations and come back for a follow up meeting to discuss the planting program.

Anything else I’ve missed?

I don’t think we’ll ever agree on this, but I look forward to your correspondence and appreciate your candour.

The rugby set seem to have the idea that the clubhouse and pitches have spontaneously landed in Doxey, like some sort of giant dogpoo meteorite. "There's nothing we can do about it now".

Maybe I'm being naive, but if the floodlights and building don't conform to the plans and/or rules then it's an illegal development that the council should swoop on, just as they do when fido loses bowel control. or an ordinary Joe wants to put a 3ft fence in his garden?

I believe that the general rule is that you can have a one metre* fence on a boundary adjacent to a highway/footpath, and two metres on other boundaries, without requiring specific planning permission.

* = 3.28 feet.

@Pooryorick given that the club house and pitches have been in discussions for 30 years, the ‘rugby set’ certainly don't think it just appeared out of no where. Obviously if they don’t conform, something will be done, we are not naive to think otherwise

@WoolmanT Any chance you can ask your members to drive with a little more consideration when dropping Johnny off at practice please?

But but but loads of patrons were going to cycle to training... It was one of the reasons given for the town centre location. Ohhhhh! That was another load of crap as well as the story constantly peddled that this development would have no negative consequences on the SSSI. Lies, lots of them :(

looks like a picture of weeds and a metal gate to me...nice lol.

Being fair I have seen a Heron there almost every time and as recently as Sunday, probably the same one that frequents victoria park, before the sow`s depth increased recently.

You should try reading the words rather than just looking at the pretty pictures! The heron is on Marshes SSSI, it used to frequent the now lost meadows.

As we all know, you shouldn't actually need speed bumps along the access road. People should be sensible enough to drive at a low speed along there.

The best way to stop it would be banning members (and their parents in the case of children) who speed along it.

Some people do cycle to the club, some people walk, some people drive - personal choice. It’s not lies at all. You crack on being part of the 1% that doesn’t like the place - as said previously, it’s not going anywhere, we can’t turn back time. Solutions not subjective statements would probably help more

I'd imagine there'd be all sorts of issues in trying to enforce that.

Speeding parents delivering their young for practice and thoughtless, even reckless driving by members speeding to and from the club is a problem shared by clubs/schools/just about anything where the general public are concerned, the length and breadth of the country.

At least they appear to be doing something about it quickly.

How is that suggestion going to be policed? So we shouldn’t get speed bumps?

The club house and pitches have been in discussions for 30 years? That's a bit worrying, because those were the days when the council was investigated by the police and the chairman (as then) was sent to prison for accepting bribes.
re, speeding on the entrance road, it doesn't say much for club member discipline if they can't act sensibly in their own backyard.

Why don't the lights have back boards on in a probably pointless attempt to reduce light pollution? I walked along the Doxey road last week and these lights are a danger to drivers on the Doxey road, dazzling, at best. I then continued along the lines to Eccleshall road. It cannot be right that the whole of the lines along to and including the cemetery are lit up like some crazy alien landing. This IS NOT compatible with your situation in the middle of a wildlife reserve. Continuous complaints to the council submitted. I suggest others do the same until the rugby club stop the horrific and dangerous light pollution. Find a solution!

Did I say you shouldn’t get speed humps? No, I said you shouldn’t ‘need’ speed humps as your members should be sensible enough not to speed down an access road.

As for policing, use your eyes. See someone speeding - ban them.

There may be issues in banning people but it would put a stop to the speeding problem quickly.

As a private members club, I’m sure that they have the power to enforce any rule they want to on their own premises.

As mentioned previously, we are getting speed bump, 20mph sign and will monitor the situation

At least 80% of the traffic into the club are not members - junior football teams, away rugby teams, representative teams, school teams, 5 aside football teams - we can’t ban people who are not members and I don’t own a speedometer. As mentioned, we’ll put signage up and speed bumps. We appreciate it’s an issue but the bulk of visitors are not members of the club
