Samsung galaxy S3 mini - any good?

Just wondering if anyone has used one? Looking for a new contract for my other half, can get this for about £21 a month with 1gb Internet and unlimited everything else.

On a side note three Mobile are lying bastards, asked about upgrades and they tried to sell us a completely inapropriate contract with too few minutes for what is currently used, insisting they were looking at current bills to get the best deal. Said she never uses over 500 mins, despite even her most recent bill being over this. Then tried to tell me the carphone warehouse deal I'd found was ex vat, which again was a lie of course. Then insisted she uses lots of 3 to 3 mins, she doesn't know anyone else on three! Regardless of cost they just lost a customer.

Go to www.billmonitor.com, plug in your online login details for your mobile account, it checks all your past bills, tells you the best contract for you and then finds you a deal on the phone you want.

Good little tool although no exhaustive on the deal checking...

Just tried again to cancel the three account, they now say because the password has been changed on he account they can't do anything for 24 hours as they can't check the new one. REALLY? So its in your computers, but you can't see it. Right. Should have called sales rather than cancellations, bet they'd have let us straight in.

Gonna check that link now URL, thanks.

Have carphone warehouse closed UN Stafford? Went to the one in town last week and it had a notice saying it was closed due to 'Staff issues', went to the one on Queensville the next day and that had the shutters down too?

I got a better deal for my pay as you go at carphone warehouse even though I'm on Orange, EE couldn't compete.

I can get unlimited minutes and texts, plus 1gb of data for £17 after redemption online, can't find anything close. Plus an s3 mini.

Managed to get three to send the PAC code, although it's not arrived yet.

PAC never arrived, GF called again and they refused to give it her for 45 minutes while they tried to beat the deal she'd seen. They lied to her loads, told her that she only needed 500 mins and most of her calls were 3-3 when she doesn't know anyone she calls regularly that is on 3!

Anyway, the S3 mini has been ordered and Three mobile shall never get another penny of mine nor hers. At least the sales guy from Orange that called me the other month immediately said he couldn't beat my quote and that I should take it!

When I asked to cancel with vodafone last week they tried to blag me to stay for a couple of minutes, but accepted my request to end the contract and told me the PAC code over the phone. The entire phone call took less than 5 mins.

Not sure if that S3 mini is any good, but it should be OK. A couple of years back I had a galaxy S2 and that was fine. I've switched to HTC now though as you seem to get more bang for your buck. I'll be selling my HTC one X if that's any good to you as I have the new HTC ONE on order.

I can get the s3 mini on this contract for £15.75 after redemption, and she needs a new phone. Couldn't find anything else near it in cost TBH, I know this is no flagship phone but it will be better than her Galaxy Ace.

Yeah a galaxy ace is like a poor mans S2 and they feel clunky these days. Its amazing how fast mobile phone technology comes on isn't it. Where will it all end?...

Well the S4 has eye tracking to control it, yet to see how useful that is though. The idea is sound, if you look away from the screen it pauses video for example. How annoying would it be though if everytime you reached for a beer, or you looked up because someone entered the room, it stopped? The video wouldn't bother me as I couldn't see it, but audio stopping constantly would annoy me. I guess you'd set the sensitivity to 10 seconds or something (if possible).

The possibilities of this on a fixed screen large format device for disabled people though is immense. This could become a mainstream priced device that does what only rather expensive kit does now, full interaction with just your eyes. I suspect it needs a lot of work though.

Agreed. However, the pace of development nowadays probably means that all bugs will be ironed out and a really slick solution offered within 12 - 18 months. And at a bargain price compared to what is available presently.

Oh, I agree! You need early adopters though or you wont get decent funding, its a gimmick now but could become huge. Well, if funded properly anyway.

There's going to be no shortage of early adopters with the S4 I would have thought, then all the other phone manufacturers who will inevitably play catchup.

I got a contract through phones 4 u back in November and after 3 months noticed that although I'm on a standard orange package I'm meant to get £5 off each month for getting it through phones 4 u. I called orange and they said to call phones 4 u. I did - they said it would take a week for the information to get sent through to orange and I'd get reimbursed.

I've just had a letter from orange to say my bill is going up. And from what they've said its going up to they've still not added the £5 discount!
I've got to dig out my order details yet again and chase phones for you.

has anyone else had issues like this? I didn't notice because my bills are electronic and I have direct debit set up so just assumed it was correct (my mistake!)

I had the exact same issue, also through phones 4 u. Three times they said they'd add the credit on, and three times they failed. In the end I called Orange to demand my contract was cancelled as my online order clearly stated a different price to what I was being charged and I was therefore mis-sold, they sorted it out that time by reducing my future bills by about £6.50.

I would never ever buy anything from Phones4U. Everything I hear about them give me the impression the shops are staffed by Arthur Daley and Derek Trotter types.

I'd look at buymobiles.net if i were you. No shop so thrrefore no overheads, contracts are a damn site cheaper. I got my galaxy note when it was £31 a month from three, went on that site and it was £24 a month. Really easy to use and no messing

Did you end up getting the S3 Mini Tek? and if so does your other half like it. I've also got a Samsung galaxy ace due for upgrade soon and like the look of the mini.
