Saturday Night in Stafford

Last Saturday (21st Sept) I was appalled with the behaviour of a number of revellers in Stafford. I witnessed your young girls (I suspect freshers) urinating, exposing their body and using foul language in Market Square. I also witnessed a man in his late 30s also urinating in the Square (don't lean on the post boxes or telephone boxes). I'm afraid most of the appalling behaviour I witnessed on Saturday were as a result of a number students, and I suspect they were freshers because they had no idea where the local nightlife was. I know this because one delightful young lady in the group insisted on shouting at the top of her voice on a number of occasions, where are the f**king nightclubs I want to get pi**ed (her parents must be so proud). She was also the same young lady that urinated in Market Square. Happy to provide a description of her? Alternatively, does anybody know if there is CCTV covering Market Square? Some foul behaviour deserves a fine.

I also noticed a couple of homeless people and drug dealer have also now decided to frequent the high street. I suspect they are opportunistic entrepreneurs wanting to benefit from the influx of freshers.

I don't wish to criticise students (I used to be one), however I hope Saturday was a one off and the behaviour of the revellers will improve!

You didn't say whether you enjoyed the night or not!

I'd say we need an improved police presence in the town at 'peak' periods, but some on here would brand me a Nazi for daring to utter such anti-liberal sentiments...

Wonder if it's the same lady who was collapsed on lichfield road in the bus stop- was a quick response ambulance car and, a ambulance itself there, Oh and the chavy twats that was kicking off in subway and giving the people that worked there abuse (thankfully they had a bouncer in there and they got kicked out)

Made me angry!

Hopefully they will charge them for any visit to A&E, Ambulance service and police time. £500 to £700. If you don't pay then its chain gang on a Saturday night clearing up.

It's my general rule to not go out on a Friday or Saturday night, unless the logistics of a particular event necessitate it.

Same everywhere surely, Fri and Sat nights violent in all towns/cities really

Yep. Best avoided. That's what out of town pubs and restaurants are for and there's not a shortage of decent ones of those in the Stafford area.

I refer you to the earlier statement regarding vanishing public lavatories

I believe the actual spot of the squat and steam was directly above the now closed conveniences in the square

A protest pish if I ever smelt one

To be fair Stafford is fairly quiet at the weekend with a quite an old crowd during the evening. You do get a younger crowd later in the night and I would imagine the anti social behaviour happens later in the night although we are usually away before eleven so can't comment.

There were no police to be seen, however I should point that this behaviour was taking place at about 9.30pm. I would have expected such behaviour at 2 - 3am, not so early! In my day....

To be honest I frequent Stafford a couple of times a month and in all my years (approx 30) I have rarely ever seen anything like this if at all and I am a late nighter :) so maybe the fresher thing adds up seeing as they didn't know the night life hub in Stafford :)

My other frequent night out is Leek near where I live, never seen so many shop windows get unrine up them, some people just don't care anymore. Modern times eh!!

You want something special go Hanley. When you see someone taking a cr*p in someones else hand for a laugh you will never go there again lol. P.S I haven't.

I am sure that these students of which you speak cannot possibly be college ones.
The majority of ours are aged under-18 and therefore (one hopes) unlikely to be served alcohol in our fine taverns.
Plus the local nightlife probably holds little in the way of novelty or excitement.
And they have the advantage of being close to the superior WC facilities of home.

I rest my case.

Whilst we shouldnt assume they were college students, its also equally wrong for you to say they couldn't possibly be so.
Under 18 is highly likely if they were behaving like this. They're getting ***sed at home then HOPING to get into our fine taverns.

Although I cant condone it, I agree with littleme. I know what I was like at 17 / 18 years old, and as we get older I think too many of us forget what growing up was like.

Judging by the range of regional dialects that I heard on Saturday, I suspect most of the instances I saw were from freshers. Notwithstanding this, i'm sure local college students to frequent the local nightlife. The fact that the local establishments provide beer is enough to entice them!

Littleme, I am extremely disappointed by your attitude. Just because we have no shootings or stabbings in Stafford does not mean we should accept the behaviour that I witnessed on Saturday. The behaviour is unacceptable and I would have expected you, and others, to want people visiting our town to treat it a lot better.
