I don't know why they even bothered opening it.staffordjas said:Walton High School was opened first thing but then closed to years 10,11 and 6th formers, due to lack of teachers being able to get in.
They were keeping years 7,8 & 9 there unless the parents phoned and gave permission to come home.
(No normal lessons apparently, just all kids split under the supervision of the teachers that were on the premises.)
My sons teacher got everyone to ring home about 10am to see if they were allowed home or not.
There's a few not on that list that are closed. Tillington for example. So, not very informative, much like school websites it seems.tek-monkey said:Can't see John Wheeldon on that list? Did you get a phone call?
It was opened in 1963 to provide secondary education to the many children who were completing primary education in the junior catholic schools, and their choice was limited in the area causing kids to travel distance or attend non-parochial schools. It is built on a site owned by william howard 1st viscount of stafford who was executed for treason in 1680......zakkwylde87 said:Blessed William Howard closed at 1:20pm. Dunno why they bothered opening it. Ridiculous.

No excuse. You could have been clearing the school playground before PE.Gramaisc said:I admit that I didn't go to school for a few weeks in '63, but we were at 800 feet and the school roof fell in.
