I'm gonna do it, i'm gonna say it, here goes

'...worth the license fee alone...'

cliché moment i know, but it's that good in my educated opinion.

50,000th poster!
I watched it last night on iplayer, After the first shock of it being Contemporary,
I enjoyed every minute of it, very well written and moved at a cracking pace,
I could watch it again to see the bits that went by too quickly.

I loved the first series and the first episode of the second was incredibly good, I can't actually think of a better tv series.

Can't believe bbc recieved complaints about nudity before 9oclock watershed.
So the door pillars covering Lara Pulver's arse and her strategically placed arms weren't enough? Has Mary Whitehouse returned from the grave?

Remember the opening sequence for TISWAS? Would they put that in front of Saturday kids' show today?...

1:10, Tarrant with his kit off - just a paper plate.

Or that episode of tiswas where one of the female contestants/guests forgot to put a bra on and whipped her t-shirt off :)

Daily Mail... it'll be about 3 complaints out of what, 4 million viewers?

What struck me with this exemplary episode of the televisual arts is - take away the great casting, remove the wonderful acting, strip out the brilliant cinematography and what remains?

A truly fantastic script.

I would be willing to bet a not insubstantial amount that the 'Sherlock' scripts will be published in book form before the year is out. And that it will be a best seller this Christmas.

Mark Gatiss is to be praised to the rafters.

Superfluousness

Not really now that they seem to be staying true to the original stories, I didn't realise that Arthur Conan Doyle killed Sherlock Holmes off in one of the novels, until it was mentioned in an interview, Moffat and Gatiss will probably refer to the novel where he returns for the explanation.

Even though they are planning a 3rd series will Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have the time to do it, even though they want to?

I wasnt surprised by the ending at all, like wizard has said its what happened in the books. I think the scene where we saw Sherlock basically ask Molly for a dead body gives them plenty of ways to explain how it was done. I would guess we've seen lots more clues last night but not really picked up on them.

Just unfortunate how long we're most probably going to have to wait for the third series.

I don't think it's ever explained in the novels - Goldilox is my usual go to on Holmes info and he tells me Hound of the Baskervilles was the first ACD book to feature the return of Holmes...

Oh i knew what was going to happen, just not the details. As for the Molly/body theory... Dead bodies aren't known for being able to talk on phones, and don't flail that much when falling. I might be wrong about the last bit, i'll have to test it.

Molly is involved in some way, got be smoke and mirrors somewhere along the line and there is definitely going to be a 3rd series, can't wait to see the explanation.
