Yeah i've been looking at those kind of leads, but alot of people are saying they only work for vga output to hdmi tv's, whereas I obvs. want one to go from hdmi output to vga input.... and people are having limited success :/

Been a while since I posted in here, so a few bits and pieces.....

First off, latest version of plex available at present is 2.6.9 and can be got from here.

There is also a fork of plex available called rarflix, I am yet to use it but apparently it offers a few things not available in normal plex such as grid view and rotten tomatoes scores for movies. More info on that here.

If anyone fancies one of these boxes for a sports day pass I see they are now available at argos. You get the box plus one sports pass for £15, so saving a fiver on buying them separately. You can get it here, or one with 3 months of movies for £25 here. Could make a nice christmas present for someone who has internet but no TV subs, maybe for a teenager for their room?

And finally, I have the youview box but have hardly used it! Seems alright, I just very quickly realised I don't watch much UK TV and that which I do watch I download to watch on demand on whatever device I fancy rather than sit in front of the TV. In fact the main TV can go weeks at a time without being switched on lately!

thanks for the update on youview tek  .

dont really watch much myself tbh , however when i do its usualy the channels i could get with the £7 youview package so it would save a fortune compared to sky.
so you have had no problems with the hardware/software side of things ie. no lockups etc ?
... still looking to get one but sky have extended my free viewing till the end of november but will make a move over once this ends .

Nice one i have loaded the Rarflix and it is great you can see the score on rotten tomato and you can even watch a trailer of what you are contemplating watching.

Yeah, I had a play last night and was quite impressed. The trailers especially, as there is quite a bit of content on my server where I've no idea what it is about!

i plugged my nowtv box in, played around with it for a while, was mildly impressed, and it's been sitting unused in a drawer ever since lol.. still got the 6 months of sky movies on it as well, going to waste!

ah well..

Yeah, they are bound to. They can't let it compete with the actual sky package, as that stops people having dishes. I think the idea will be to price it a bit above normal TV, so that the more you watch (TV/movies/sport) the more attractive a real sky setup becomes.
