I do not believe it!

I saw this film at a cinema when i was about ten years old and could never remember what it was called. I have thought about it often since.

If you do find it, can i borrow it. :)

It appears to be available from, shall we say, the darker side of the Internet. I shall attempt to appropriate said footage, and report back. :strange:

Looks to be the real deal, can't hear audio as I'm using logmein free to watch it on another machine though. Shouldn't be an issue, but I'll test it properly when next home. Its 1Gb, if required I shall find a way to make it accessible for you all.

Is piracy still wrong when no legal avenues are available? The denial of legitimate sales is obviously null and void, no monetary losses are incurred for the film studio.

There is a section of copyright law known as ‘The Berne Act.’ It clearly states:
“films unreleased in the United Kingdom and United States, including
original version of films altered and/or edited for release therein,
are not protected by copyright; thus, they are considered public domain.”

That's what he says!
Indeed. I have had as much of a skwizz of said 'Act' as can be borne by any reasonable man (ie not much) and have concluded that i can't really be bothered to explore it any further.

The geezer with the DVDs for sale is basically selling a copy of the YouTube download above. I think he may have a point in that this was a TV movie that wasn't on general release. I have read on another site that this only exists on a '00 VHS' tape of some sort so is almost certainly a video copy of a made-for-TV movie.

Interestingly though, i definitely (i haven't had the time to watch it yet, so i can't really be quite so definitive, yet i'm absolutely definite that i...) watched this in a movie theatre, and at a time when the digitalisation of anything at all was some decades off. This would suggest, if not insist, that there was at least one cine reel version of this film.

If i had to place it in time, i would guess at circa 1979 when i viewed it. The cinema in question was not particularly known for the contemporariness of its offerings - the fact that i saw Jaws in the same theatre, which was very much the exception that proved the rule for its lack of contemporariness, would tend to support such a date. One of the great things about this particular theatre was its love of money above its duty of care to the classification system of the films it showed.

Either way, i doubt anybody connected to the film is likely to give much of a (parrot) shit.

A production of that vintage, set at least largely on location, seems most likely to have been shot on film, I would have thought.

A quick check tells me the quality of the copy I've acquired is damn awful! Not got time to sort it now, off to London, but will post a link on my return anyway.

Indeed, though on both Wikipedia and IMDB it is stated as only having been shown on TV, yet i definitely saw it at the flicks.
