Staffie Collars

Hi there,

Question for anyone able to answer. I have been wondering for ages what the 'pastry' shape means that is always on SBT collars?

Thanks!

Hi Staffie13

Not sure if you're in the right place - this is a forum dedicated to Stafford, the county town of Staffordshire! It has no relation to dogs, Staffie or otherwise :P

However, I think I can answer your question.. If the "pastry" you're on about is the pretzel shaped emblem featured on my avatar, it is The Stafford Knot - the badge of the de Stafford family featured on the Staffordshire coat of arms.. You can read more about it here on Wikipedia :)

Welcome to The Forum, enjoy your stay!

Heh, I asked myself the same question a few years ago when I was doing some Stafford-investigation. I actually quite like the knot - Im thinking of having it tattooed on my person, to recognise my English roots.

Great idea! I think that should be the initiation ceremony when joining the forum. Where are you gonna have it done? I remember many years ago I was in either Maccy D's or Woolies with BBC and his bro, and we noticed that the guy in front of us in the queue had the word 'Rugeley' tattooed on his neck. Not only that but it was in really scrawly lettering, as if he'd done it himself. Plonker.

Ooh er, I didnt realise my pending tattoo would cause such a ruckus! Marriage proposals an all... ! [Awww an Miss T, thats so nice of you to ask!]
I'm thinking of having it done either at the base of my spine, cos Id like it to still look half-decent in 30 years time :) , or even the back of my neck or on the inside of my wrist. It'll no doubtedly hurt like a bitch but Im a big girl, I can handle it. :D

Don't do it somone in Australia land might mistake it for a tribal tat or even celtic. They might think your; Irish, Scottish or even Welsh.

(purely an opinion - do what you want as you could do worse)

4000th post? Whatever, I'm nonchalant..
I walked past St Mary's Church the other day and noticed someone had planted hedges in the shape of the staffordshire knot. I was pretty chuffed they'd gone to all that effort. It got be thinking about the knot though. With the council's love for one way systems, why don't they develop a oneway system that navigates the town centre following the the shape of the staffordshire Knot? With all those bends it'd be like bombing around a race track, a bit like the Nurbergring. BBC'd love that.
I'm gonna consult my map and explore the possibilities. Just think if you could see from space like that poxy wall in China.

Sterling idea Tensh! I may put it to the council. It seems like the road planners are already a bit crazy so they may just pass it!

I remember this well. It was in Woolies. Too funny. I'm still toying with the idea of having 'ST17 till I die' and maybe a picture of bodmin shops or something tattoed on my person. The neck is as good a place as any :)
