We were sat outside about 4 til 6, like you I can't understand why it's always dead but I still go there! As for spoons I assume it's price related, god knows how they can sell black dragon at £2.40 a pint! I still prefer Stafford ale house myself, plus the kids love the milkshakes, but when skint it's understandable people think with their wallet. What was the rest of town like? I didn't see many people walking about.

I was one of the people who got ripped off when the pie and ale house shut down. The manager, i believe, took over the business with a friend of mine, Chris and reopened with the new name. Problem is the damage was done. I didn't get my money back along with a lot of other people. So maybe me and my friends aren't the only people boycotting the place.

Just tried the Cheddar valley, now on to the hecks which is a bit sweet for me but still very nice. Will have one more before heading home, will have to come back tomorrow to try the others :)

Edit: the Yarlington mill is a dry, if anyone wondered. May try that next.

Hi All

I would just like to say on behalf of the Stafford Ale house that anything that happened from the pie and ale was not the Stafford ale house fault, i can assure you all that along with the very few i might add that did lose there money (3 party's that i know off) they were not alone staff along with 3 managers were very shocked to find that on the 2nd of February the business was closing and 8 members of staff lost there jobs along with not having any pay for 3 months then a further 2 as it had to be claimed back from the government funding schema, so i would just like to say that to take what eva happened with pie and ale house against the Stafford ale house it a bit unfair as the managers there did knot know what was going to happen and they also lost out as well and did not have any control over the accounts side of the business. Yes they are now back in charge (owning the business) but have worked hard for the last 6 months to build a NEW business.

I would also like to add that although the party's that were booked in through out the time that the business was closed there was nothing that could be done and information was given to the liquidators in relation to what party's were booked and had paid but there was only 3 that had paid which were due in the few weeks after everyone lost there jobs. the pie and ale did however have a couple that were booked later in the years and had paid small deposits of around £100 as the team at Stafford ale house understood there frustration we have agreed with most of the booking that had paid the deposit to clear that part of there payment as it was lost and we took the lose on this and they only paid what should have been left, and the Stafford ale house also contacted all the other booking to make sure they managed to make other arrangements and most again were happy to use the Stafford ale house for there party's.

i Appreciated that everyone has there own though on every business and there own comments but i would ask that if you have bad comments in relation to another pub please do not do so on this thread as the Stafford ale house are trying to form a new business it is not associated with the Pie and Ale House in any ways and so would appreciate the chance to build the business with out the though that it is being punished for what the owners of the Pie and ale house has done, i am sure that as for the many of you on here that do regularly visit the Stafford ale house would see that every effort is being made to make it a success and would like your support in the new adventure the team face in the NEW business

we are not the Pie and Ale we are the Stafford Ale House please don't judge with out visiting, at least then it would be comments again the Stafford ale house not pie and ale house.

But we would like to add a massive thank you for the many of you who have since been back to see use and supporting use in the last 6 months the Stafford ale house would not be open if it wasn't for you all.

Thanks You.

I accosted a very dodgy-looking, studenty-type bloke in town today, because he was wearing an RAF greatcoat. It turned out that he was trying to find places to put posters for a band playing at the StAle House on Friday the 8th of February - Under A Banner - described as a sort of Levellers/New Model Army type of thing. £5 on the door, from 8pm.

Greatcoat is visible in some pictures here- http://s318438191.websitehome.co.uk/underabanner/#.UP67KR1Wx8E - plus sounds and comment.

The poster says Pie and Ale House, but we all know what he means....

Just been told they haven't closed as such, and no liquidator has been called in or anything. This was another person owed wages though, been told they can't have anything til it's wound up properly and they aren't doing that yet.

I guess until they 'close' they can still sell assets?

Isn't there a gig of some sort still forthcoming there? Signs in the window speak of something - maybe it is still to go ahead?

My surveillance procedures would suggest that nobody has even been in there since the impromptu 'closure' occurred.

I have been in contact with Damian Clark - the gigee in the window - he was unaware of any of this uncertainty....

I pointed him at Juice - in case he was desperate to play Stafford for some special reason and the StAle House doesn't become re-available.

Was thinking the same, last time I looked the cakes were still there. Person I just talked to said they'd had no wages as such since January, just the odd few quid here and there plus lots of promises. They also got fired by text, it's like chambers all over again.

I really liked the place, but if they've screwed their staff over I shan't set foot in another place they open. Not that I see that happening, this is the second time they've closed the same pub.

I also know someone who was fired by text and they owe a lot of money to in wages . been trying to phone and text ever since and they never answer or reply .
didn't they have the same thing happen to them when the pie place closed down ? you'd think they would have some sympathy .
I said from day one of them re opening it wouldn't last five minutes . why open a pub that is almost identical in every way to one that had to close ? you need something different to survive these days and dodgy coffee and over priced pies isn'tit .
that said I absolutely love the place itself and would love to see it as a flourishing business .
