Stafford builder recommendations

I have searched the forum but cannot find any recommendations for builders for house extensions, only roofing etc.

We have been looking at selling up but it might work out cheaper to extend the house we have.

Thanks :)

Yes, I can. Our wonderful builder is Mark Edwards of Morewood Construction. He did all the work on our present house (including an extension) and is currently restoring the house we are moving into. He won an award a few months ago, for an extension he did last year. His work is excellent and he has plenty of ideas which as soon as he suggests them make you wonder why on earth you hadn't thought of them before. Best of all, we can have complete confidence in him - we know that he will do a great job and he is totally trustworthy. That takes a lot of stress out of the whole thing. An indication of just how brill he is - despite all the current woes in the building industry, he always has a waiting-list. We had to wait for him to start work on our new house. He is there now and I think should be finished just before Christmas. He has another big job starting straight afterwards but I don't know past that. It is just him and one other guy. He has contacts in all the other trades and certainly for us, has project-managed the whole job. No website but his mobile number is 07968720205.

I can recommend Chris Holford.
He has built an extension for my mum, knocked down walls and erected a garage for us.
Reasonably priced and a good job done.
He lives on Silkmore Lane and has been building for years.

I'll recommend myself if that's allowed!!
Not really touted myself on here before but have been a jobbing builder for 20 odd years now and, like flossietoo's guy, will project manage, call in the trades as required, generally over see the job etc.
Wouldn't be able to start anything this side of Feb., but now's the time to start planning things!
PM me if you'd like further info.

Hi. I'm also looking for someone to do some work on my house.

My basement has a damp problem - I think its mainly due to water coming through the 'window'. Any recommendations would be appreciated, or if anyone can do the work please contact me through this site. Thanks.

Over the past 3 years I have overseen the renovation of 6 houses for a friend. It's fair to say that we have seen some very poor workmanship from local builders and really terrible attitudes to me, the customer. Not to put too finer point on it - we've been ripped off quite badly! Despite the fact that I have become quite experienced in hiring builders and foreseeing the pitfalls it has still been very stressful and I've often felt it's been somewhat of a battle.

Anyway, we have found a small team of builders who are fantastic and we have worked with them consistently for two and a half years now. They are extremely experienced and even maintain outlets for a well know national food chain. We have now set up a small company with them and believe that we perhaps offer something special in that we know exactly what a customer feels and what they concerns are as we were customers on several occasions. We have recently renovated a house in France that was in very poor condition and the owners were thrilled. I will post a few pic if possible. The team do all aspects of building work, from plastering, brick work, roofing, carpentry, landscaping etc... We also have close working relationships with electricians and plumbers. They are extremely experienced and have a fantastic pride in their work as well as a wonderful work ethic.

If this is of any interest/help then do message me.

Cheers

Hi would you be interested in small jobbing patch repairs to outside rendering ie a bit of damp getting in, ie where the price would reflect in hours spent.
It is for a lady over the road she has been ripped of before.
I just want to find someone who's price refeclt in the time spent on the job

@whereschris hasn't been active on here since May 2014, so you may be waiting a while for a reply I'm afraid.

Hi there jb21 and welcome to the forum. Your project is something I would quote and take on, the down side is your tight deadline. I'm fully booked until Jan next year at the moment .....

Keep me posted if you want to follow this up ....

Hi, I'm after some Builder recommendations from people that have had work done and although there are a few on the thread I thought I'd try and get some more recent recommendations.

It's only a small bit of work in comparison to others. Ripping out a fireplace, rendering (or plaster-boarding or something else :) ) the inside of the fireplace when removed so it's a mini alcove and then plastering that side of the wall so it's all ready to decorate. We'd also like laminate flooring laying if possible as an all in one job quote?

@Tants That's the kind of thing I would recommend Matt Askey for, however, it's a year or two since I've had him do work at my house & I haven't seen driving around so not sure if he's still about at the moment.

@darben Thanks for that. Do you have a contact number so we could try him? What kind of things did he do for you? Reasonably priced?
